Just bought a brand new 2015 Tacoma TRD DCLB and had a 3" lift put on. At about 40 MPH it starts to have an intermittent vibration about each second, going in and out. It is not my tires tubing anywhere, but it sounds like it's coming from under the truck.

Has anyone else had this issue after putting on a lift? Would it be due to alignment, bad tire balancing?

Thanks in advance for any info you can offer!

Put it in 4wd and see if it still happens. If it goes away, it is the Needle bearing on the driver's side of the front diff. East coast gear supply makes a bushing that replaces the needle bearing to help the vibes if that is your issue.

If the steering wheel shakes a lot it could just be your tires being unbalanced.

    What kind of lift?

Did you have them install a carrier bearing drop?

It's most likely caused by your new driveline angles.

You are going to have to get under there and measure your angles and then trouble shoot accordingly.

You can add the carrier bearing drop or rear axle shims.

Search "driveline vibration" on TW and there are hundreds of threads discussing different solutions.

This thread has some good info and a video that explains things pretty well...

    Too few to list.
Very important - carrier bearing spacer.

And I'm pretty sure this is incorrect.... It was my understanding that if you put it in 4wd and the vibration stops, then the needle bearing is probably the culprit.

I fixed it, you're correct. Not sure what I was doing when I typed that.

Thank you for the great info. I don't understand the vibration because it is intermittent, not constant. I might take it back to the people that installed the lift and tires and ask them to double check the alignment. Is there anything else I should have them look at while they are at it?

Id be willing to bet your tires arent balanced. Most vibes with lifting are on acceleration or decel. And dont waste your money on a front dif drop kit or spacer (this has been debated here fiercely, do some searching and you'll see why its useless). Streettaco makes a carrier bearing drop bracket that I've heard helps. Some people get lucky with lifting some not so much. Be prepared for anything. Good Luck!

Did you get new tires mounted with the lift? I don't think it would be the tires now, if they weren't causing issues before the lift.

And I don't think an alignment issue would cause vibes... A floating wandering feeling, yes.

    I'm guessing driveline...

I had the tires, wheels, and lift all done at the same time. I really hope I'm not jacking up my drivetrain by driving it with this issue.
