I didn't look closely at the condition of the previous copper plugs I had in before the Iridium ones were installed (had the dealer do the install), but I do still have the old plugs at home so I'll check them out and see where they fall in relation to those pics. Given the amount of spark knock I was getting before going to iridium, I imagine they are going to look like #6 or maybe #7. They weren't very old though, maybe only 7k miles.

The photo of your plugs that you posted earlier looks normal to me, in fact they look good for that mileage. My stock ones that I took out at 7k miles and swapped for the iridiums looked charred and burnt around the tips.

looking at the chart, reddish colors are from fuel additives and that is supposedly normal. That being said, why are only a couple of the porcelin tips red and not all? Something is uneven between the cylinders. Whether it's fuel being deliverd, temperature in the cylinder, timing etc. They should all look similar, especially in an engine with only 31k miles right?

I hope you find what your looking for. Im trying to think what else fits the bill like a Tacoma? Frontier....nah, Jeep rides like a horse drawn carriage and is crazy expensive. Tacoma is what I want. I read the instruction/installation manual for the MAP ECU3 a little while ago. It's bad ass and your know exactly what is going on with Fuel and Spark. Not to mention it plays nice with future forced induction setups to keep your shit from melting down.....

Maybe Trade on a 4 runner or FJ Cruiser? with similar 4.0L? I saw a late model 4 runner with lift blasting down the beach last weekend. He flew right by me while I was bouncing across all the ruts.

My wife drives a 14 4runner, 4.0, 4x4 No pinging, sweet ride. We drove from Ga. to Colorado a few months back, no issues at all. Best part... NO PINGING ! And I'm like you, I love these tacomas, this is the first problem like this I've ever had.

I tried 3 times to hear the pinging, couldn't hear it. I believe you though, I know it's kinda hard to hear.

Its so damn consistent at times pulling first and second that it mixes right in with the intake noise. Sometimes it doesn't happen very much or sort of inconsistently and other times I can hear it over the road noise into 3rd gear. It's loud in the cab. I know if I can hear it it's loud. No more shooting without hearing protection ever again.

Same here. Sometimes it sounds like a popping noise, with kind of a rattle. Mine is inconsistent too.

Thanks, I just did the 5100 lift up front and Deaver 3leaf AAL's out back. To me it doesn't look that funny with the stock tires on it and a small lift. Keeps the frame off the humps and bumps. Pro Tint did the front windows for me $75

I hear something funny but honestly, I've never listened to the sound of spark knock from outside the truck before. I know exactly what it sounds like from the inside (like marbles bouncing around inside the engine when accelerating). Can you do a video from the inside of your truck?

My 07 had a 3" lift with 285's and they rubbed when turning sharp. Bottomed out the shocks so needless to say it rode rough. Don't have a single filling left in my mouth.

That is with the ipad in the passenger floorboard and me gunning it out of the McDonald's parking lot. The Pic is just to satisfy You Tube, from what I understand you must have a video or a pic(s)/slideshow with your audio to upload. Maybe there is another way but that is just a Tacoma Porn Pic to go with the rattle sound

I was thinking shelled roasted peanuts in a empty metal coffee can in a paint shaking machine. WTF
