I have a 2016 Tacoma 6speed manual transmission. It has 12,000 miles on it. All of a sudden now after you drive it for a half hour or so down the road it wants to fight you coming out of gears. Doesn't do it until it warms up though. Any ideas?

The good news is that it's a really easy fix that actually works. Mine hasn't locked up like that again in the 10k miles since the fix.

Amazing read guys and gals. Bought a 2016 Trd sport 4x4 with 14k from dealer in New York for 27k Feb 2019. Flew in from wisconsin bought vehicle and drove back 1k miles. Currently have 19.5 k miles on taco. Couple of days ago I wondered if there were any recalls or problems. Then I stumbled onto this thread. My Trd sport shifts perfectly and haven’t experienced the manual transmission issues people are having. Really sad Toyota is not stepping up and fixing this issue for builds with the problem. Instead they are discontinuing the manual tranny in all except one model. My 85 22R manual rusted away but motor never quit. The 97 taco. Rusted and head gaskets went at 234 k. I am going to pull motor fix and make 97 go again. I really enjoyed the 85 and 97 tacos. Beat the crap out of them. The 2016 lives a pampered life in garage and comes out once in a while. It’s does not like salt in its diet and avoids the elements. My tranny shifts flawlessly. The main issue I experience is a long throw in clutch peddle travel. There feels like there is a dead spot half way down and up. Tranny shifts fine. Gonna have to take it for a ride today. I sure hope Toyota fixes the issues people are having. And when they say they aren’t aware of any issues. That is pure BS. Of course they know but don’t want to pay the piper to fix the issue

Toyota fixed that issue years ago, and still offers the MT in the Sport, Off Road, and Pro models.
