    Hey all,

I lurk a lot here if I must say. I am very interested in returning to a new Tacoma come 2016 and so far I'm 75% impressed. Things I am not too impressed about being the lack of disc brakes in the rear, no diesel option and carryover cab.

One thing I was interested in knowing is WTF is going on with the Double Cab B pillars?? Please let this be an unfinished "prototype" thing.

I haven't really seen any mention of it here but doesn't it look like they just painted the things black? I'd rather they just be body color than this lame stuff. Also, does it appear that the DC gets the LED 3rd brake light with bed light and not the Access Cab.. Weird too.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to more news about this truck. Here's the Wack B pillars, such an ugly ugly sight I noticed.

Yep. They were just trying to do anything they could to make it look like an all new truck without spending any money.

So they borrowed design cues from about five other vehicles, slapped them on there, then called it a day. This poorly executed pillar comes courtesy of Jaguar, who did a much better job when they started the trend with the XJ.

At least it looks like the painted pillar is a "special feature" for the Limited, as it doesn't appear on the OR.

I agree, the blacked out "B" pillar does not appeal to me.

My 2004 Corolla has blacked out B pillars. They wax up just fine. I don't even think about it.

because those B-Pillars are plastic... versus the new Tacoma (which is the metal painted flat black)

Nope. Black paint over the body colored steel. If not paint, some kind of applique. Definitely not plastic.

That's my POS ('cept mine's white)! The black around the mirror is plastic, as it the drop-in around the wipers. Whatever is on the pillars can chip off, just like paint, because my stupid lawnmower threw a rock a few years ago. What was directly beneath it was the sprayed body color. It's got a flat texture to it, but not satin-like.

When I wax, I open the doors and apply it to these areas too. I keep it off the other plastic, because then it does that "wax on plastic" thing that never comes out right. On the pillars, it works just fine.

Just look though! It looks like a terrible mask job. Most the time when this is done it actually has a molding following right below the black portion. This is like a lame film or cheap paint.

Compare the Tacoma vs. Tundra. Let's hope this changes or this is another short cut and I am not willing to fork $34k+ over!

On the older Tundra's this is just a black vinyl sticker that can be peeled off. I'll bet it is a the same thing here....

Nice truck. Looks good with the clean pillars. DCLB TRD Sport is the way to go.
