Hope you don't mind me jacking your thread a bit Jeremy  however I have had a TON of calls/messages directly from/related to your thread so I figured I'd post a little more info here!

I normally only re-pin the harnesses for those that purchase the ARC Audio xdi amps with direct high level capabilities through me however due to popular demand I will have the already re-pinned standard/reverse harnesses along with Speedwire available in the near future for all that prefer to not cut any factory wires when adding other amps with this capability or are using some type of processor with high level inputs (we are also trying to source pins/plugs separately so we can make new harnesses using the Speedwire directly connected so no soldering/connection of wires will be needed).

BTW, I was recently made aware of a headunit response "test" someone did to "prove" the "garbage" signal from the factory headunit however based on the info I received it appears the test may be flawed as it was done using a speaker connected to the headunit which will give you a cumulative response of the headunit and the speaker. (this type of "test" could determine if volume dependent processing is going on but not the actual response of the headunit itself)

In any case many know I am a fan of using the factory headunit whenever possible and have built/helped others here build countless systems without a processor to "clean up" the supposed "garbage signal" many believe it has. Later this year I am reviving my mobile audio BBQ's of the past where we spent a lot of time testing to verify or dispel the many myths of mobile audio and the first item on the agenda for a couple of audio guru friends of mine will be properly testing the response of the non JBL Entune headunit and more importantly explaining what any found variances in the response actually means in terms of sound.

    A few things to ponder...

Audio testing equipment can "hear" everything you can hear however you cannot hear everything audio testing equipment can hear and if "you" can't hear "it" "it" doesn't matter.

I cannot hear what you can hear and you cannot hear what I can hear so our results may differ.

A strong enough belief system will overpower scientific proof every time.

"Better" is a very subjective word that is sometimes confused with "different".

Thanks you Marv for the great information. Talking to you the other day definitely made me understand that I was under the belief that you had to have a signal processor when that is really not the case. I hope this will help anyone that is checking this thread out!!

i've been super busy/lazy but i need to scope my stock Entune deck as well.

would you suggest just using the speaker outs? i think my friend has a mutlichannel scope so i may be able to test 2-4 outputs and see if there's any variation.

i really want to see where distortion starts on the volume knob. to my ears it's in the mid 50's but likely earlier.

Using the speaker outs for what exactly?

Completed my install ran power cable from my auxilary battery to the amp in the back, ran 2 speedwire cable one from my oem radio to my dq-61 (loc), the other speedwire from my amp outputs to the radio harness that connects to the speakers, plug in the rca cable output from my loc to the input on my amp, an a wire from remote out on the loc to the remote on the amp..... moment of truth, turned it on and what a difference. With the EQ on my dq-61 I was able to fine tune the sound. I made a temporary mounting panel for the amp and loc until I get my box and amp rack from mr. Marv

You ran two power cables from the battery correct? What was your thoughts on that route vs using a distribution block??

Either way works fine. I just didn't want to mess with running zero guage through the firewall plus it would have been more expensive for me. All a matter of personal preference.

I'm guessing it might be the gto function with my loc.... any ideas? I may disable it and run a remote wire in......right nOW gto is enabbed aND have a remote out wire going to my remote in on my amp.

That would be my first thought. Have you tried to just turn the volume up a bit on the head unit when there isn't ant sound to see if the stronger signal will kick the loc on?

Then yes, running a remote wire would be my next step in troubleshooting.

Try going to a different source before you shut it off and then turn it on again. I have had issues using amps with that feature and found sometimes it would not work depending on the source the headunit was left on when last turned off so I always run a remote wire
