    Thanks brotha. :hattip:

Pretty cool what you figured out for the tweeter. First time I've seen someone do that. Hopefully your full install will go smoothly. :fingerscrossed:

    @ToyoDrew

Long story short, I ditched the MB Quarts about three weeks ago. The ones I hacked up the factory tweeter for the OE plugs to make a harness with. I found a pair of Kicker OEM Tweeters that Subaru uses in their premium systems that is a direct fit in the 16+ Tacoma that sounds better than the Quarts. ********* also sells adapters and a four prong plug to install any brand of tweeter.

I've seen the thread where 3rd Gen guys are using Subaru's premium tweeters for a simple plug-and-play solution and I'm impressed that someone even thought of trying a Subaru speaker in a Tacoma in the first place! lol

As for me, I just did this because I didn't want to wait...I had 30 minutes to kill the other day and I already had these tweeters from the Hertz Hi Energy components, so I thought, "why not"? :D I do plan on running speaker wires directly from the Amp to the components, so no use of the OEM speaker wires for me (once it's all in).

So I got the 2 jl audio tw3 10 inch woofers with the jl 600/1 amp, lc2i and replaced the tweeters with the Suzuki direct replacements.
    First impression: sounds awful
I am battling the flu so my hearing isn’t too notch at the moment.
So I’ve been playing with the settings and sounds a little better but not much.
Problem 1: punchy bass, i mean overpowering mid bass
Problem 2: zero low bass or boom, I read every where how to reduce this, I have the opposite problem, there is zero.

    Edit: tuned incorrectly.

They look amazing in there. I had problems at first with mine sounding like that too. I had a pole crossed on at least one of the speaker leads going from the head unit to my signal processor. How are you getting your signal to your amp? I would start there for sure. Once I figured that out everything sounded 10 times better.

Edit: I see you are using an lc2i. Sorry I missed that. Check all of the leads going from the head unit to that and make sure you have everything right.

Did you accidentally set a high-pass filter somewhere that is cutting off the lower freqs to your subs?

If possible, take a picture of how you have your amp set. This will help us get you to a good starting point so you can tune.

The amp is under my seat JL 600/1. I don’t have what I need to remove this seat on me. I’ll take more pics this afternoon when I’m off work. Here is the lc2i

Set everything flat on the head unit first. Bass, Treble, Balance and Fade right in the middle. Try to take a picture of the amp settings under your seat. I suspect that you've got some tweaking to do there as well.

First thing that's wrong is Accubass. Turn that all the way down. Bass should probably be about 90% of the way up, but since you're unable to adjust the gains at the moment, you might want to use the bass knob to make the bass play at the same volume as your other speakers using that knob for now.

If you're running just the factory speakers with no amp, you're going to have to back that way down or it will sound muddy like you describe. The subs are overpowering the other speakers. I suspect that you have the low pass filter set way too high as well, or have the amp set at full range instead of LPF. You need to cut off any frequencies above 80-100 HZ from going to the sub. That is done on the amp. You'll get it dialed in.

How did you determine where to set input sensitivity/ filter frequency? Did you go by the instructions in the manual under Appendix A? LC2i level should be set as high as it will go with no clipping.

    https://content.abt.com/documents/25654/XD6001_manual.pdf

How did you wire the subs. Those have dual voice coils. Good instructions for wiring series/parallel can be found here.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0BoN_8DBDs

It doesn't make sense that your factory speakers would sound any different. Who did the install? If you unplug the RCA Cables from the Audiocontrol LC2i, everything should sound exactly like it did before you did anything.

The car audio shop set everything. I lowered the gain down so it matches the speakers but I could have easily have gotten the same result with the pioneer prefab enclosure and a single 10. I’m totally scratching my head on this one.

You are sharing airspace with those two subs, it is critical that your wiring is spot on or they will cancel each other out. Essentially out of phase. Check the basics first. JL Audio makes oustanding subs and amps!

I'm still going with there is one or both of the + and - poles being backwards on the input side of the lc2i. Like I said before I had the same exact issue when I first hooked up my system in my truck. Try to reverse them and see how it sounds.

Try adjusting the sensitivity on the loc and switch the slope on the amp from 24 to 12. I'm running two 8w3v3 although smaller in diameter than the shallow mount tw3 they produced better low bass imo

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I spent some time this past weekend tuning it and now sounds great. Now the issue is not the system itself but the rattling.
I applied dynamat and corrected 80% of the rattling but still get some during certain frequencies. What has everyone done to call correct the passenger rear side rattle? I can’t seem to pinpoint it.

Lots of guys on here just remove the Plastic entirely and carpet the back wall of the cab. Since you've cut the plastic back there, maybe it's vibrating more than normal. You might try shoving some foam underneath it to keep it from vibrating. I think you're on the right track with the Dynamat. Make sure and keep us posted.
