Hey Jeremy - I did not recognize the new profile pic. I'm still debating on hiring someone or doing this myself. REALLY anxious to see how your rewire with the Metra harness goes. When I spoke with Mr. Marv I thought he mentioned something having to do some small adjustments with the harness to make sure the Entune system is not affected. Quite honestly, my head was spinning at the time as I could not visualize what he was talking about at the time.

DEFINITELY turning into a high quality/worthwhile thread here! If you guys can guide a schmuck like me to do my sound system myself, I will be forever grateful. I apologize in advance for any stupid questions I may need to ask.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post this as promised to several guys however Jeremy will most likely do a more detailed job of it anyway! I'll just post a couple of pics of a simple trick I use showing how to easily re-pin the harness for the additional wires and what it should look like. I use a tiny pick tool however a heavy sewing needle works well also...

The simple trick is to clamp the wire to a bench or in a vise.....
    20160503_154536_zpsoawl3jme_35f4e939bcadff1024dc9ab8b1b0abaf8154bf63.jpg

Stick the pick into the narrow section of the "T" slot contacting the tab that holds the pin in. Push in on the tab and pull up on the plug and the wire will pop out.

I remove the blue wires (cut off the small jumper wire) and re-pin them to use as the replacement for the additional button light wire and this is what it looks like ready to wire together..

Brian - Thank you so much! This pretty much the exact thing I want to do! I am reusing my setup I had in my Mustang that I traded in for my Tacoma - it was hard but the right thing to do. I had it professionally installed but I am inspired to tackle it myself after seeing this thread. I have Focal K2 130KR for my front mid and tweeter http://www.focal-america.com/product/130-kr/ My rear coaxial are Focal k2 130KRC http://w ww.focal-america.com/product/130-krc/

I don't fully understand the crossover boxes that come with both my front and rear speakers. When you have a sec, could I bother you to draw another wiring diagram with the crossovers included.

I think I will go ahead and order my Metra harnesses today!

Follow his diagram but you will run wire from the amp to the input of the crossovers, they should be clearly marked and there will be 2 clearly marked outputs on the crossovers to go to the mid and the tweeter.

Crossovers go between the amp and speakers

Thanks Gentleman - Does it really matter if the crossovers are closer to the amp vs closer to the speakers? Mr. Marv is making a sub box (10" sub) with a amp/LOC rack for me - not sure if there will be enough room to place crossovers there or not. Opting not to place amp/LOC under seats for various reasons.

NOTE: THIS IS ONLY FOR THE NON JBL ENTUNE SYSTEM!
Ok, I just de-pinned the harnesses as @Mr Marv explained above. I will try to go step by step and try not to be confusing. (I feel like I can be sometimes..Sorry everyone) I actually used a dental pick to remove the pins.

These are the harnesses that plug INTO the back of the head unit and what you have to leave or remove.

This harness you will completely LEAVE ALONE

Thelse are the blue wires you remove from the next harness I will show. You will clip the extra wire off where the arrow is pointing in the pic.

It doesn't, I just tucked my crossovers away under the dash so I didn't have to run two sets of wires all the way up to the doors and the tweeter location from the back of the truck. If they are at the front of the truck you will only have to run one wire to the crossovers.

Nice job Jeremy! One thing I should mention is that not all of the harnesses come with the orange/black wire as yours did and in those cases you will have to take the other blue wire and put it in that position as seen in the second photo below (no reason for the blue wires other than those were the only 2 of the same color that won't be used)..

You will need to take your signal from the output of the factory amp using a processor that has signal summing capabilities due to the processing done in the amp.

I thought of saying something about that then I figured I would mention it when I did the next step and hooked them all together. Thanks Marv for the help and that. Glad you looked at it just in case something didn't make sense or I messed up on anything. We're a pretty damn good team sir!!
