hey fellas, this video above is helpful... NOT well sort of, but it is really not obvious what clips he is removing down below.. did he remove 2 or 4 and does anyone know about where they are... I have some damage to mine and i dont think they are broken out but for the life of me i cant get the grill out with just the 4 at the very top removed. would be great if he showed the lower ones, any help very appreciated.

This video should show you where the fasteners are.

Thanks so much, but unfortunately, that is another video of the slightly later style that do not have lower fasteners to remove. the video i referred to where he does not bother showing you where those lower fasteners are is like my vehicle. I believe the very first few 2016 tacomas must have had these lower fasteners. That video i asked about is the only one i have seen that shows the person messing with these lower fasteners.

thanks so much for trying i really appreciate it.

would you happen to know... not the grill or the orange plastic bezel part but the black plastic part behind the orange bezel. It seems some grill bezels come with just the orange part and some come with the additional black plastic behined that which is the part that attaches to the vehicle with the screws and fasteners. What is that part called or perhaps some bezels come as a full assemebly and some are just the colored bezel? thanks for any help you can shed, i really appreciate it.

I am sorry I can be of more help. My 2016 grille swap went exactly like in the video. You may have to try search for others videos of newer grilles.

thanks for trying... yea i have found a bunch of videos where the grill comes out with just the top 4 fasteners but only that one video that has the lower ones... which i think must apply to the first few 3rd gens they made. maybe i should try to contract the guy directly. thanks for trying i really appreciate it.

I do remember having to lightly pound on the inside bottom of my factory grille to get it to pop off. Mine did not just pull off like the video above shows. Unless you will be trying to sell your stock grille, I wouldn’t worry about breaking tabs. Just be gentle when sliding your new grille in.

yes it might come to that. Teenager bumped into a basketball post so its unclear what i need to replace and what is ok or heat moldable back into shape. I would just hate to rip taps out that i need that are part of a deeper part of the assembly.
the guy clearly shows removing tabs in the video i just cant find them but going to try to take a mirror in there today and a better light.
    thanks for your help
