Well, looks like anyone hoping for rear discs is going to be disappointed. I took crops from the highest resolution photos of the side profile just released on MotorTrend. Then I processed them to boost the shadow detail. Obviously it is a little ugly, but the rear certainly looks like a drum on its own. When you compare it to an identically processed crop of the front it is pretty darn clear the rear must be a drum. The front brake is larger diameter and very reflective like a disc should be, the rear is much less reflective and smaller.

    Here is the REAR:

    And for comparison the FRONT:

We will know for sure on the 12th I suppose!

Good point... but no caliper would have been the first clue.

Totally fine with me. I just know it was one of the discussed possible new features and was on a few people's "wish lists".

Looks like one answer we could get from these photos with a little detective work...

At least the OE tire will be more competent than the Rugged Fails...

Keep in mind the Toyota has best in class braking.. with drums in the back against other trucks with discs in the back. Nothing wrong with drums.

On a good note! Finally great stock tires, MS2's are fantastic. Not super rugged but one of the best onroad tires for a truck IMO.

Also, if those wheels are 20", those tires look closer to 32" tires than 30.5" tires.

It's a limited, I would be surprised to see a SR5 or TRD come with Michelins.

Taking measurements from the rear wheel photo and assuming the wheels are 20" as MT states in their article the total diameter is 30.3". Obviously there will be a little error in making measurements from the photo, so I'd say they are most likely 30.5" tires still.

Wonder if you can remove the thin fender flare and instantly accommodate 33"s without rubbing?

Disks in front and drums in back are great. I like the smooth stop.

Aren't drums supposed to be good for stopping a heavier load?

Then there is no way it is a 20" wheel. It has way to much sidewall to be on a 20" wheel.

my guess is 18's, the same as the current limited.

Not really. The only reason for drums is lower cost. Drums don't dissipate heat as well, so they are not suitable for track use (i.e. repeated high-energy braking). On a pickup this is not a concern.

I will be buying a limited I think. As much as I hate the Chrome bits though. We can all hope Toyota puts as good a tire as the Ms2 on all trims, even though many people will still upgrade.

The MS2 is still an all-season tire, just a much better all-season tire than the Rugged Fails.

IMO the best all season SUV/truck tire.
