Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I agree, if it were a sports car disks all the way. Standard road car, still probably disks for the performance edge. With a truck, I personally don't care to have disks in the rear.

I had a Civic with drums, that I swapped for disk.. It was a good improvement for fun but did require more maintenance.

Almost all of my trucks have been drum rear, and only 2 of my cars have been drum rear.

Thread revive. Because fukc making a new thread.

Now that we've either accepted or continue to hate drums. I have a consumer question.

Do these new drums come coated or painted on the outside or inside?

I did my drum brakes on my third gen 4Runner 4 months ago. In the second month of having them, they began to show rust spots. Because, of course, Bosch doesn't paint their drum breaks. I had to remove them. Sand them. Paint them with high temp paint. (Low Gloss black)

I haven't bought a new car in years. And all the new ones that I've seen port all rotors.

When I buy my new tacoma will I have to run the same procedure as I did for my 4Runner?

Why I like the rear drum brakes revive.

I've changed several drum brakes before and it is not too complicated as long as you have the right tools.

Emergency brake on a drum works better than in the emergency brakes on the rotor when they use the hub of the rotor as the drum.

You don't need disk brakes stopping power on the back. Unless you are loaded, disk brakes will activate ABS otherwise you will be dragging your rear tires.

Drum brakes in the rear last a long time. Around 100k if you never slam your foot.

They might actually be better for off-road / mudding.
