At least I'm not the only #18 fan on the forum then. I hope to be at Dover this spring. At age 55 I guess it's time to go to my first live race, don't you think?

You're crazy, this was a better race at a 1.5 mile track than all of last year. And yes Dillon was strong, which is why he finished 5th. He had 2 pit road penalties that kept him out for a while but he was able to hold off strong cars on old tires for the last 30-40 laps.

Absolutely. Live is such a better experience, I can't wait to see them at TMS this year.

That KB pass going to the outside then inside on the restart was crazy, he is one of the best I have ever seen at restarts. JGR cars are gonna be dominant this year

    hey y'all, here's a thing I did today:

    https://youtu.be/fw600uOAo8I

I cobbled this video together from clips my wife shot with her Iphone. 10/10 would do again. If you want to do it, look around for periodic sales. My package was $600 regular but I got 50% off. No way I'd pay $600 for it, but it's the best experience I've had for $300. I was timing other people with a stopwatch while waiting my turn. I was really bummed because they were turning laps around 47 seconds. I was raging internally because the Cup cars were turning 31s a few weeks ago and I wanted to GO FAST. I got out there and turned some high 36 second laps :D. The spotter keeps you in check and you have to incrementally build up your RPM but he said i was running good lines and sticking it well in the turns so he set me loose at 5000rpm pretty quickly. The straights felt like driving on the interstate at 80mph but GOOD LORD the turns felt like a 350lb dude sat on my chest.

Funny thing. Here was the lineup for the day #48 Lowe's Chevy, 2 #24 Chevy COTs, 3M & Drive for Hunger, #07 Jack Daniels Chevy, #1 no name Dodge, #17 Ford COT. Someone asked if they had to drive a Ford, Chevy etc. the head guy said the engines were all different and didn't match the bodies. He said some Fords had Chevy engines, some had Toyota engines, etc. My "Ford" actually had a Toyota engine and TRD gauge cluster :)

Also, the older cars (#1, #07) were for smaller people, while the COT's were for bigger guys like myself (6", 215lbs). The COT's offer more headroom. I could see out fine, as they don't clip you into a HANS device, but the rear view mirror is only like 3" tall.

4 speed manual was fine. The clutch pedal has about 6-8" of travel so you really have to slam it down when shifting. Throttle response was "fun," but not "throw you into the back seat" crazy. They make you come off pit road in fourth gear to avoid pit road burnouts and spin outs on the apron in T1. Backstretch is like the interstate. The G-forces didn't hit me until that transition from T3 to T4. I thought I was going to black out at 3500 rpm the first lap. Luckily my body acclimated and I increased to 5000rpm and stuck it to the bottom through T3 & T4. It's SO MUCH FUN to dive bomb into T1 but it's hard to keep it from drifting up in T2. The suspension wasn't bouncy, but there was enough give to smooth out the bumps in T3-T4. Where T2 had to be wrestled, T3 & T4 were SMOOTH. I wanted to hammer down onto the front stretch, but if you hit the rev limiter, it drops the engine to 6 cylinders.
