Nascar won't be the same for me. All vanilla drivers anymore. Even Kurt and Kyle are behaving themselves.

Tony Stewart will turn his last laps as a NASCAR driver at Homestead this weekend, and when he rolls off into the Florida sunset, so too will NASCAR’s last link to its fiery, brawling, race-anything-that-moves past. The world has moved on since the hell-bent days of Earnhardt and Wallace and Waltrip and Yarborough, and while Stewart carried their flag as deep into the 21st century as he could, time has finally come for him, too.

On one hand, Stewart posted one of the great NASCAR careers in history: three championships, 49 Cup races won, victories at virtually every track on the circuit, and a connection with a fan base rarely managed before and maybe never again.

But the first page of any career retrospective of the man nicknamed “Smoke” must also include the fatal accident at a small track in upstate New York, and stories of a mercurial, run-wide-open temper that made enemies up and down pit road.

Truth is, when it came to racing cars, no one outdueled Tony Stewart. But his demons sure put up a hell of a fight.

And to think, when Tony came in, the old guard called him "Prissy" and "Mr. Uppity." I agree, there aren't many big-name drivers will proven grit. That's the way she goes. Also why I spend more time and dirt tracks and short tracks. I'm not saying NASCAR sucks or it isn't what it used to be (nothing is). NASCAR is just it's own thing and that's fine. As a kid (and young adult) I always said the last REAL season was 1992. It also featured the greatest season finale in history; something NASCAR has attempted to replicate with this CHASE playoff with 4 potential champs at the season ending event. We get a similar setup with Smoke retiring this weekend:

Any predictions for today? I figure Johnson will get it. Not what I want, but statistically, it's hard to bet against him.

I love JJ but they pulled the biggest boner they could do.
    You don't deserve it now...

He altered the body I guess. They pulled him out of line and checked the side I think but they had to do something and they put him in the back.

Not the only one for sure. Going to the edge and not falling over is how it goes but I dam well know the chase cars have a microscope on them so why would you even think of it. He's back up there now anyway so the point is kinda mute anyway but still...

I still don't want him to win. He's been spoon fed with the best since he started racing. Chad has been caught cheatin several times and like harvick said once " they got a lucky horseshoe stuck up their butt"

Haha JJ may get his seventh now that Carl and Joey caused a mess. JJ has been fast at times but not as fast as the others.

That was really big of Carl to go down to Joey's pit and assure the crew chief and team that it was "one of those racing deals," and he holds no grudge.

I thought it just felt like a day where Jimmie would get his seventh, and it just worked out in his favor. That guy has won every way you can, and he deserves to stand up there with Petty and Earnhardt in the legend column. Like it or not.

Why? Because he got a better restart than carl with less than 10 laps to go for a championship and tried to pass him? Or that Carl blocked him and spun himself cause he didn't realize how good a restart Joey got?

I did take notice how Brad shot straight into the wall to avoid his team mate, that was ballsy cause he hit the wall haaaard.

Didn't see Gibbs block for their teammate? And because typical dump and run like always. Then everyone defends him. Hell he can take that Yankee silver spoon of his and....

You put 2 bulls in a pasture with a sweet looking heifer on the other side and you get what's expected. One of those racing deals. Established Cup drivers talk about some "code" which is total BS. I think it's a veiled admission of simple "Give & Take." Joey doesn't have that in his blood. He never has. He's always been in good equipment thanks to deep pockets. There's never been any reason to give. He's like Michael Schumacher in his prime. He puts his eyes on the target and shoots for it, everyone else be damned. If I were a race team owner, this is exactly what I'd want in a driver. I like to think racing is a gentleman's sport. It's not. I must accept this. It wasn't dirty driving. My 5 year old was sitting next to me and said "welp, that's just one of those racing deals, dad," and if a five year old can accept it and handle it with ease, then so should adults.
