Way to go Jimmie! You've gotta respect a guy and a team who can pull that off 7 times, like him or not.

Yeah, luck is good to have, but no one wins the thing 7 times on luck. As for cheating, NASCAR was built on guys that "pushed the envelope" so to speak. I've actually been following NASCAR long enough that I remember some of the more blatant episodes...and loved them all.

I've never met an actual Jimmie Johnson fan in the flesh. I've never chatted with one who has been into the sport prior to Earnhardt's passing. The 48 crew don't cheat. Go down to a NASCAR garage and they'll all tell you there's no "cheating" in modern NASCAR. No sir, not one bit.* Sure, there's a lot of "innovating," and they'll all cop to that, but no cheating going on in NASCAR.

    * Except for Michael Waltrip Racing and that rocket fuel accelerant at Daytona.

Sounds like the hippies bitching about the election. Good luck next year, hope your driver does better.

The math says any driver that's not Jimmie Johnson can do better

    Things I anticipate in 2017:

-Clint Bowyer is stoked to be back in good (arguably the best of his career) equipment. I expect him to be an immediate contender for the Cup.

-Chase Elliott will win 2-4 races next year. He has a good crew and they have a season's worth of usable setup data to build upon.

-Ryan Blaney will win 1-2 races. Hopefully Wood Brothers picks up a charter in the off-season so they can get a portion of the weekly charter purse.

-Kyle Larson's momentum will carry through to '17 and he will win 2-3 races.

-Erik Jones will continue to be his own worst enemy and wad up a lot of cars in the first half before making some solid runs late in the season.

You win ONE race on luck.....You win 7 Championships because you're the best of your era. With the competitive nature of drivers and teams, NO ONE would win "because they cheat" without 39 OTHER teams throwing them under the bus at every opportunity.

I'm NOT a Jimmy Johnson fan. But give him his due.....Him, Chad Knaus and Rick Hendrick belong in the Hall of Fame. They deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as King Richard and (my personal favorite) Dale Earnhardt. Maybe Johnson wouldn't have fared as well 25 years ago.....Maybe Richard Petty wouldn't have won a single championship in TODAYS NASCAR environment....who knows. But, they won big when they had their chance. Cars are more "equal" now than ever before. The ONLY difference IS the drivers. One driver just keeps earning the spot at the main table at the end of the year. Over and over and over.....SEVEN TIMES.

Quit whining about his "luck", or about "cheating".....

Johnson IS lucky.....Lucky to have been born one of the greatest drivers ever....Like it or not.

Exactly. Petty, Earnhardt and Johnson all played and won by the given rules at the time of their dominance. Outside of driver grit, the common factor among all three is they were one of the highest financed teams during their era.

Kasey has publicly stated that if he cannot "get it done in 2017" he will walk away from NASCAR. We'll see how that works out....

I think it's that whole 5 team luck too. With the exception of Terry Labonte and Mark Martin, that team has always struggled. Actually it wasn't ever really a premier winning team, even when Terry was driving, except his championship year in '96 with the old point system.

That's too bad. I've always like the Biff. Too bad Roush's performance has been so crappy in the last few years, hence Matt and Carl moving to Gibbs. Greg should've seen the writing on the wall as many of us have speculated for some time.

Actually, just about EVERY crew chief in NASCAR has rules infractions on their record. At least the one's that have fielded cars capable of winning a race.... If you don't push the limits of the rules, you DON'T win championships. You won't find ANY competitive teams that DON'T have a few violations on their resume's.

And those infractions almost always are found. "Cheating" is NOT why they've won 7 championships.....They got caught....They paid fines....They served suspensions....Same as EVERYONE ELSE. And STILL win....WITH LEGAL CARS...

    I'm guessing you favor losers?

Sounds like you're a BIG fan of a loser......

If you knew ANYTHING about racing, it is you simply cannot just "buy" a championship.....It takes money, and it takes THE BEST DRIVERS, BEST MECHANICS, and BEST CREWS....If it was all about Rick Hendrick's "deep pockets", wouldn't his cars finish 1-2-3-4 Every week?

I can see why you'd hate on Johnson/Knaus.....Probably hurts having your loser of a favorite driver get his ass handed to him by the same people just about every year.
