Thank you. Mat's doing some incredible work for this community and I for one am glad he's done what he has - kept me from trading my truck off and now I love it!

It would actually. A leaner AFR means more NOx emmissions. CO2 emmissions go down as AFR goes down, but more harmful NOx emmissions increase. Still not as harmful as the sum of everything that comes out of a cows ass for the sake of the ground beef industry, but sure the composition of the exhaust is more harmful comparatively speaking.

You might know more than I do, but I would be surprised if the AFR changes? I am assuming that the tune would just open the throttle plate / DI more with a matched amount of fuel at the RPMs where we see the dip in the dyno sheets?

Stock with the Torque app, Commanded AFR matches Measured AFR when on the throttle. Our Forester XT does the same. When coasting, the Measured AFR goes way up, as expected.

Please let me know if I am wrong.

Man... Everyone of these OvTune threads gets filled up with irrelevant bickering and unrelated topics.

It's a pain to just look through.

Can we have an OvTune FAQs and an OVtune review stickied thread that is heavily moderated to stay on topic?

I can only speak for the AT version, but I also monitor the AFR command vs. actuals and it still tends to sit around 14.6 at cruise. Only difference is that it is slightly less rich at WOT or heavy throttle even. Still not LEAN (i.e. consistently greater than 14.6) in the sense that you're dramatically increasing harmful emissions, it's just not smothering by dumping overly rich and creating as much of that bogged feeling we get on stock. But it still runs "rich" at heavy throttle just like stock - just not AS rich if that makes sense.

And I'm no engineer, just a weekend garage junkie who reads a lot of garbage online and watches YouTube videos to hack my way through things...

Thanks. Good info. So, it sounds like some emissions would actually go down with the tune. ;)

My understanding is that NOX is created if you go leaner than stoich. This tune doesn't go there. But perhaps I am wrong.

It doesn't - aside from when you'd expect it to. It (just like stock) bumps up to 18 or so during DFCO/engine braking on my AT but otherwise it sits pretty close to stoich, lower (richer) in higher throttle situations

You're right about that, you do have to go beyond stoich to create excess NOx. But during coast downs from speed like coming to a stop light you bet your bass that AFRs will spike above stoich levels. during those periods there would be more NOx emmissions than if the engine had been belching out extra fuel the whole time as designed

What happened with the Dyno? Did @OVTune post anything yet?
