It was stated that the truck has aftermarket wheels and tires. As well as 3rd gear pulls instead of 4th gears/1:1 pulls. Not quite sure why that was done... I am sure there was good reasoning behind it.

I wish there was a corn tune. Then we could crank the timing. Fuck MPGs. Corn is where it's at.

@Av8rJake can you post up your wheel/tire combo? Would be helpful in deducing the low dyno numbers.

I don't understand tuning. Someone help me. Do these results, which are lower than OV expected mean that running the AT tune (102.c) produces more HP and torque in the manual than the manual specific tune (103c) does?

Be gentle, although I have read every page in the original Alpha thread, I am still confused.

IIRC, he's on 33s. That's all the detail I have though.

I think the variables are at play and he's looking into it. the dyno truck was practically brand new and break-in probably had some factor as well as the heavier wheels/tires than stock + hot dyno room. I'd bet my apples that any MT owner who has and does tune will FEEL the power difference regardless of what this single dyno run demonstrated

    Yeah no kidding eh :pout:

As was pointed out, the truck had almost no miles on it and was running 33's. There was also the warm dyno room.

I'm not trying to make excuses, but hell there's no way we should be making LESS at the rear wheels than the auto... and certainly not that much less. We know our drivetrain can make the extra power, as the previous tunes showed us.

Again I have no doubt this will all get ironed out down the road, and for now I'll definitely take the drastically improved driveability.

Don't forget, Mat is going to dyno this same rig about a month from now as a follow up :)

Perhaps it is listed somewhere else, but are those dyno numbers with 91+ octane? Maybe @Av8rJake could confirm what he had filled up with last? I ask, because it seems the OP expected to be able to run more timing.

Disappointing numbers, but its all relative I suppose. At 90 degrees, I think most of us have felt the noticeable reduction in power. Non-stock wheels and tires probably played a very large part too. It would be nice to see the OP keep a standard set of wheels/tires around for dyno days. They would be very cheap buying a used set from take-offs.

@OVTune, are the low end gains (2200-3500) a result of more timing, or playing with the VVT, AFR, and throttle map settings? Just trying to figure out if an 87 tun could be expected to gain some in that area?

I don't buy the "New Truck" reasoning. Not much break in occurs after 1000 miles. If the valve seat and rings etc aren't fully seated by now, something is wrong.

I personally don't care about the Dyno results, I'm here for drivability improvements. Even 1.02c has made improvements, so regardless of Dyno, I fully expect this manual specific tune to continue that improvement.

To each their own. But personally, I think with the sprint booster it drives fine, but seriously under powered. That's just me.

I think the truck has power, it's just not in the low end like a lot of ppl want. Add to this the dismal attempt at a tune Toyota gave us and sure, it seems gutless. You really have to get deep into the throttle to make shit happen. I can tell you though, that OV's tunes have drastically changed things for the better.

You won't feel like you've wasted 800 bucks, that's for sure.
