I traded in my 2016 for a 2018 truck. 2018 flash on a 2018 truck.

Please post up your experiences with your 18’ tunes guys. Thinking about buying this for my 18’. I’ve never owned or purchased a tuned vehicle so naturally I’m hesitant. But boy does added torque sound good.

@OVTune I’m sure you look into reliability first and foremost, but will the extra power cause an increase in stress or wear to the power train components? So if there is say 10% extra power, does that mean things wear out 10% faster? I’m hoping to keep my truck for many years and definitely want to do my part to try and not cost me $ in the future. Thanks and I am looking forward to one day trying out your product!

 

There is no exchange of keys/dongle info WRT the flash manager app. I download my tune files with it on a completely different machine, and it's never seen the dongle. I then transfer the file to my "flashing" POS laptop, where the dongle/PCM flash app reside. The licensing all happens between the dongle and PCM flash AFAIK. The info programmed into the dongle won't let you flash a different ECU (truck) basically.

your license code is stored on the actual physical usb dongle. there is a encrypted protection flash on it. Never ever lose the USB

He's said before that the dongle/kit can be used with any 3rd Gen. Maybe he's lying to us?

 

that was months ago. There are several security updates since this

 

ECUs are also now locked. At the embedded level (code inside the ROM)

Take your kit and try to read your ECU. it's locked now. Only if you flash out of 1.03x (older verion roms)

 

I just want to ask one thing Mat, and I think I already know the answer.. If I were to trade my 16 on a newer model, would I need a new dongle or just a new exchange of keys once I read and send you the OEM file for the new truck?

You don't, you will just need to send me your dongle serial number

I try to do this as easy as I can for you guys. I take care of all the back end work.

If I wanted to I could make it more difficult and require you guys have a separate dongle just to run flash manager... but that's no fun.

 

I probably won't, but I'm going to have the stealership run the numbers for a '17 (same exact model) just to see where I am. I think their "upgrade sale" is bullshit but I still want to see what's what.

 

Same here. Super convenient cause I put the dogs in the bed and they can stick their heads in the cab without me having to get into the back seat to open the window .

Nope, it isn't avail on access cabs anyway AFAIK. Besides, I rarely use the old fashioned one I have now lol.
