This is clearly a Mat question but as he's unlikely to promise / guarantee anything to protect his liability...

On the OVTune website - Very clear he engineers tunes to "last the life of the vehicle" as stated on the website.
True answer as of today - we don't know how/if it will impact long-term reliability until someone has it long-term :)
Educated hypothesis (based on 6 months running tuned) - I can't imagine the tune does anything other than at the very least maintain the same reliability, at best could even extend the life of your powertrain components. I obsessively monitor my truck and what I see is that it's not running lean or overly rich which could cause heat or cat issues. My engine and transmission temps are basically the exact same as they were stock, MPGs for me are about the same, but I don't get the smoky mess out of my exhaust that I did stock. Aside from that, GENERALLY (with some exceptions, of course), when mechanical parts operate more smoothly, they last longer. My truck is immensely smoother in terms of throttle and power delivery than it was stock and I can only imagine that's goodness for the long-term wear and tear - all the jerky behavior I had stock is gone so my personal opinion is that it's hard to believe the tune is anything but a help.

Based on some of the prior experience I had tuning vehicles, most were a much simpler approach and some even just handed you the tools and you could easily screw up your vehicle if you didn't know what you were doing - and many did. Mat is invested in this platform as you can see and tunes that kill your truck would kill business. If you look at the Alpha thread you will see how things have evolved over the last 9 months or so where he took the time to slowly add more layers of calibration methodically with plenty of feedback loops and data logging happening in the field and now with his own truck.

Mat ain't buying you a new truck if you blow it up, but then again he's also delivering a product that's solid imo.

When I traded off my 2016, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting especially considering I already had 50,000 miles on it. But I wanted the MT so I was likely going to do it either way.

So I got the new tune installed tonight in my 2018. I' m running the 87 octane 103B and took it for a short ride. Noticed a jump in torque at lower rpm and the truck is more responsive. It will still pull at rpms just above 1k. The previous tune (103A?) had a noticeble power increase at 3,500 rpm and the new tune has smoothed it out. It's still there but just slight. Overall I'm happy I bought the tune. At the beginning I wasn't sure. This tune changed my mind. I'll review again once I get some miles on the truck.

Kit out for delivery today. Hopefully getting the dongle registered and licenced does not take too long and I'll be tunned but weeks end.

@OVTune i feel a slight stutter in 3rd gear in the 2000-2500 rpm band. Thought I was driving over bumpy roads but i replacated the stutter several times. It’s so slight but it’s there. Anyone else feel it?

Off the line the truck is a different animal.

Watch around 3rd and 2000 rpm. Ever so slight.

    Echoing the sentiment. Tune rocks.

I'm honestly never that low in the powerband in 3rd or higher. Hard habit to break, left over from when the truck was on the stock tune, not to mention I kept my previous vehicle higher in the rpm band since it had a big turbo lol been working on retraining myself for how I drive to take advantage of the benefits of this tune but it's a work in progress and requires I pay attention more than I normally would

It might be good to log the misfires if you can. @luminous was doing that with the last version. This is one of the things keeping me on the fence.

91 oct tune donuts! Great throttle response. Used auto LSD. Fun stuff.

Is there a noticeable difference with the 87 tune vs 91?

Also, is 85 gas good to use on the 87 tune? Don't see many stations that offer 87 around where I live?

There is a slight difference between the 87 and 91 but for me it wasn't worth the extra cost. If you where running 85 on the stick tune you will be fine running 85 with the 87 tune.

I plan on using the 87 tune as Matt recommends to start anyway, I just wanted to double check. I figured it would not be a big issue to use 85 with the 87 tune. I usually run premium anyway because its only a few cents more here in Utah.

I was just about to post about this sensation. Can't quite figure out what's causing it. Could be misfiring, but I'm not sure. Doesn't feel
quite right. Seemed to kick in a few days after I flashed the tune. I don't remember it happening the day I flashed it.

I just did more driving and can't replicate it, even in 3rd down low at 2k rpm. I'm convinced I was imagining it at this point. Probably something to do with me drivong off before the truck was warmed up IF it did happen
