I’m waiting to see the direction Matt goes on the exhaust. Really hope he will sell the exhaust in sections and not just the whole system or at least offer it in “stage” kits. I doubt I’ll buy the turbo kit just not the direction I am looking to go. I do have a an Eaton m90 on the shelf though.

Edit: @OVTune Matt, sir you knocked it out of the park with 1.03c!
Just drove my 60 mile commute to work and your last adjustment to the tune is spot on. All the power is still there with just the right touch of finesse. Today is the first time in months that I have seen a 17.2 mpg for my 60 mile trip to work on my display. I was not taking it easy on the truck either as I left home heading to work about 30 min late. Job well done Sir, can’t wait to see what is next!

I took my Taco in for service at the dealer and the woman who drives vehicles to the service bay had to ask me how to get into Reverse.

It’s a lost art these days. It also makes it easy when people ask to borrow your truck. Manual? What’s that? Why’s there three pedals??!?

I knew I should have gotten a manual. It doesn't happen very often luckily, but It's not easy handing the keys over to your girlfriend. :anonymous:

It's not that she didn't know how to drive a manual. It's that the six speed has the reverse to the left and up. Hard to find for some who are use to the reverse being to the right and back.

I hear stories about thieves not being able to steal them. I think insurance companies should start giving discounts for manual transmission security systems.

Did you need to let it idle for 10-20 mins?

My review after a couple of days:

After flashing the 87 octane tune, I let the truck idle for about 10 minutes; just enough to drop to normal idle speed.

I still have a wicked stumble between 2-3K RPM. It is really bad when the engine is below operating temp, but softer when it's fully warmed up.

The C version seems much smoother than the B version. I'm not talking about less acceleration, I mean that throttle response is more refined and linear. It put a smile on my face when I was cruising at about 55 in fifth, had to slow down but didn't downshift, and then accelerated again. The truck just took off rather than bogging down. Very nice.

I'm going to give it 500 miles before giving my final verdict. If I still have the stumble, I'm going to flash the 91 octane tune instead, and then
give the truck the full warm up routine.

Please read the original thread and all 146 pages of this thread where there are multiple discussions where it has been stated by Toyota technicians that Techstream cannot detect this tune or that the ECU tune was ever changed. Also, the fact that you can flash back to the stock tune at any time also helps.

A little research goes a long way.

The only PROOF we have is Mat's word and the fact that a few tuned TW members have been to the dealer with tune installed - no issues.

I'm not sure what you're looking for - maybe someone to prove it to you with techstream screenshots or something?

We all know there's an element of risk here, so if it bothers you that much perhaps this mod won't do :notsure:

proof of what. that a dealer cannot find out through Techstream? or that Toyota's3rd party forensics team cannot find evidence of a flash when you are claiming a motor replacement? there's no such thing as proof for something that hasn't happened in the future. this guy walks a fine line of trolling. and i don't think he knows it... just gotta do your own reading and think with common sense.

You can always flash back to stock if you have some engine related warranty work. It's not like techs are going to go looking for this, most of them don't even know when new TSBs come out...
