Tip,stay away from All Pro's poor customer service,I have their sliders and they are quality but it was not a pleasurable transaction ;)

Log files (and thorough explanations) sent to Mat did 1.03C-87 and 1.03C-87 test tune 1. (04B11)

Test tune 1 feels better but I still have surging between 2-3k rpm. It was much more subtle. Definitely going in the right direction.

Performance is #1, and #2, and all the rest of the numbers. That's why the parts ahead of the tune on my list are an oil cooler and tires for one of my cars so I can spend more time on the track. The OVtune is #1 for the truck!

Ya, and they don't come powder coated. Lucky I bought mine from a friend.

Is this surging while shifting, before or after? How much pedal response when it happens? Just curious the circumstances so I can try to mimic it. I am also 04b11

I bought mine from them when they had the free shipping sale last August. They were located in Montana on the other side of the divide from me at the time. Owner told me it would be two weeks when I ordered. I didn't get them until mid October. Powder coating wasn't a concern as I was going to have them and my SSO Slimeline Rhino lined anyway.

I've been looking at both pc and line x options locally in case I don't order a set of sliders pc'd from whichever company. Leaning towards line-x/rhino liner

It adds weight but is durable as hell. I had to "trim" some off to mount my light bar in the SSO's mounting brackets. I tried a razor blade and my benchmade, I had to use my die grinder to get it cleaned off enough to mount my lightbar.

Yeah I've seen vids of line x'd items dropped off of towers and stuff lol

Too bad SSO doesn't offer Tacoma sliders. They've got a free shipping thing going on right now for sliders

Looks like we are the only ones here anyway, everyone else must be out flashing, driving and logging.

I am almost on empty and will fill up and will run this test tune until the next fill up to see how it does. It may take me a month though, unless I do some more logging.

I'll probably go back to 91 on my next fill up, just to change things up and get some moar powah back in my life. Can't say that the 1.03C 87 map isn't good though, I definitely enjoy it. Just began my 3rd tank on it the other day

I know that most people have had issues though, so I'm kinda on the outside looking in. Lol happily on the outside

Which is weird because even Matt said the timing was way off on the 87 tune (well maybe not way off, but he said it was not nearly as clean as the 91 tune). Which is weird, but since I know absolutely zero when it comes to this, I'll have to rely on Matt's amazing knowledge.

So far 1.03c test tune 1 has be great. I did about 10 minutes of 4lo with a-trac in some very wet/snowy conditions and it feels much better over stock. I can't wait to really push this in Moab in a few days. Speaking of that, I better get my food/camping gear together :)

I'm getting a tad of the surging and rough acceleration and Mat suggested that the timing was being pulled due to the knock learning. Some people reported getting a smoother ride mixing 87 and 91, so I'm wondering if I should just run the 89 mid-level "Plus" gas for now. Or maybe I'll just fill up with 93 and when I've cleared the tank flash to the 91 map...

Yep from what I am seeing on some of your logs with 87 octane there is some pretty nasty spikes of detonation...and that's on stock ignition timing, which is "toyota safe / OEM engineered."

I'll show you guys the ignition difference between a 87 and 91 octane, and you'll understand why the 91 runs better and has more power.

87 octane tune vs 91 octane - some highlights
Note- this is based on logs from two different trucks.
This is data is very useful, and as a result of all of this a new version of MT tune will be available to loggers tomorrow (and eventually, the masses).

    87 vs 91 octane logged -
    conditions : Full throttle pulls
    start RPM 2000-

    RPM 2300
    87 octane - 1 degree ignition advance
    91 octane - 14 degrees ignition advance

    RPM 2800
    87 octane - 5.5 degrees advance
    91 octane - 19 degrees advance

    RPM 3300
    87 octane - 5.5 degrees advance
    91 octane - 19 degrees advance

    RPM 4000
    87 octane - 10.5 degrees advance
    91 octane - 20.5 degrees advance

    RPM 4500
    87 octane - 19 degrees advance
    91 octane - 22 degrees advance

    RPM 5000
    87 octane - 19 degrees advance
    91 octane - 28 degrees

    peak from 5000 +
    87 octane 19-20* advance
    91 octane 28-30* advance.

here it is with the advance differences on top of a single run

That is one hell of a difference between the two. The 91 looks very linear as rpms increase while the 87 seems kind of flat and unstable.

ETA Are those results from the 1.03C.0001 test tune you sent out or are those from the original 1.03C files?

Wow, this is great info! I am so glad we could help. Looking forward to the new test tune. Could you please let us know what was changed? I assume most changes will be for 87 tune?

I am loving the 91 test tune right now. Feels really good.
I even pulled on some little punk this morning in what looked like a Camry reeving super high to pass me going 50 and I just applied more throttle in 4th gear and pulled away :)

Most noticeable when driving sportingly and just after shifting. The 2-3k point falls right in the rpm range of my short daily commute. My engine often is on the cooler side too since my drive is only 1.5 miles. With the original tune, I could also feel the surging when cruising along on the highway...not so much on the test tune.

I never did try 1.03C (or the test tune) 91 tunes. Of course I just filled up with 87...
