Yeah I'm curious what will happen for the 87 maps, since that is the greatest source of issues

Ok so since I'm off today :D, I did a bunch more highway driving on the 1.03C test file 002 91 octane.

Stutters as they were on my truck since the introduction of 1.03B remain absent (fuck yeah, thanks Mat!), but the strange "double bump" surge when you're lifting is still a thing. It happens just when you transition from "on the gas" to feathering it, not quite full lift. I can make the engine do it any time, seemingly any rpm. It's kind of like the diff whine, only there under very specific circumstances but noticeable.

@OVTune , it seems to be the same symptom as when I was testing the original 1.03B, only muted - there was a very sharp clunk on lift in that original file, and you alluded to the fact that there was something added to the A/T tune (throttle plate opening/closing rate IIRC) that didn't play well with the M/T. I can create logs specific to this if you like..

It's a minor complaint to be sure.

Thanks again for the awesome work :hattip:

Dude, I'm impressed with the pull in 3rd getting on the highway. Just lay your foot at about 30% into the gas and let it eat - for a mid-sized truck, this thing hauls ass on 1.03C 91. I'm sure if I went back to stock tune it would feel like someone pulled a coupla coil pack connectors off (I was gonna say plug wires, but we don't have em lol).

yeah, i think to outsiders they may read this thread and think we're horrible and the tune is horrible.

these are just minor issues on a very complicated vehicle.

with the stock tune, driving felt like work. it took a lot of concentration to drive and shift. with the 1.03c tune, it's effortless and the drive is just more relaxing and enjoyable.

once some details get worked out, i think it'll be spot on perfect. then maybe we can test a full otto tune for those interested.

i'll never go boosted on a truck like this (needs much better brakes if you're going to put another 100+ hp in it) but i know many are waiting on that too.

Yeah there's a lot of excitement around Magnusson's sc development, if it ever gets finished, and Mat's plans for a tacoma ecoboost. I expect I likely wont boost my truck, but I am on the fence. However, I feel like I'll be the oddball saying that I would want power delivery to remain linear, smooth, still easy/pleasurable to drive. Much like how the f150 ecoboost is, honestly. A lot of guys will no doubt say that's ridiculous and that you may as well not boost the truck then, and maybe they're right, but...

I've had my fun with turbo cars and gotten over the thrill of high boost pressures. I guess I'm an old man now who values drivability over a kick in the ass every time I put the throttle down lol :D:rofl:

Agreed. Usable torque would make this an even better truck.

Maybe we will see this (to a certain degree) with an Otto tune after the current files are perfected. :fingerscrossed:

Some joker in the alpha tune thread is about to test the 91 map with 87 octane and an octane booster as a money saving option over buying 91oct fuel. Smh. Maybe it'll work out, who knows, but excuse me for being skeptical...

I've always been under the impression that octane boosters aren't worth the money.

hmmm sounds like I need to try the 91 tune next flash. I just need to figure out where I can consistently find it, much less around than 87. I’m at least able to find E0 87 pretty much everywhere.

Yeah you need to try it for one tank at least. The ppl that say the 87 tune is just as good aren't really being honest from a power perspective.

I dont think anyone has said that. I know I've said that the 87 maps are great, because they are certainly very enjoyable, but anyone who is comparing the power between the two and says they're the same is trippin
