2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

My apologies if this has already been answered, does this tune affect warranties? And does this tune get rid of the rev hang?

 

To my knowledge the dealer can not detect the tune.
At this point there has been no work done on rev hang but the tuned throttle makes managing rev hang much easier.

 

There have been a multitude of other confirmations besides these that state that the tune is not detectable.

 

This is true and in my opinion, reducing rev hang isn't a big priority anyway. It's a truck, not a sports car. There will be rev hang.

 

1500 miles on the test file this weekend. Loved it. No issues at all.

 

That fine throttle control is nice in 4lo, ain't it?

My truck was jerky as hell n 1.03B/C, although some others didn't have issues.

 

I think stating that the tune is undetectable is a bit misleading. Its a different file with a different checksum. The dealers dont have the tooling, but if Toyota was concerned that something ECU related blew up an engine they 100% could figure it out. Reading the rom and comparing it against the version that should be installed would reveal its different.

 

Absolutely phenomenal on the rocks. No more jerky throttle.

One other thing I liked about the test tune over 1.03b or 1.03c was that DFCO was not a factor. I was able to idle down steep rocky grades at 1000RPM and 3-5mph in 4lo without using the brakes. Even more awesome was crawling uphill in 4lo without adding any throttle. 4.88s and the test tune are legit.

 

This is what the peeps that want the touchy as hell pedal commander style throttle maybe don't get. Anyway, to each their own.

 

Tend to agree with you, Frank... I loved 1.03 at first but as ive had more experience with it I have realized it gets a little annoying having the jerky throttle. Looking forward to running 1.04 when its out

 

Eh, most people don't actually use 4lo. Most use 4hi and if they ever do venture into 4lo, it's so infrequent that inconsistent throttle could be chalked up to truck quirkiness since they wont be using it much anyway

 

*Not detectable by lazy service department that struggles to actually do their job. They don't have time to go looking for things that may have changed when you have to fight them to fix real issues.
