Throw out bearing wouldn't affect power my guy! That's a ported and polished throttle body from a tundra, it makes more hp than stock and allows for better intake flow

So the 04B13 version/tune is actually really good. If I didn't know better, I really would think it was a 87oct OVT map. Was pleasantly surprised. Took minimal adjustment to my driving habits involving my right foot to adjust to the feel of it compared to how the 91 oct OV maps feel. They're (the 91 ovt maps) usually a little bit more sensitive especially right off the line, which i do like. Looking forward to trying 1.05 91

I did notice the decrease in mid range power that @MOC221_ had been talking about, but this was to be expected since we've been running 1.04A 91. Like i said, I would have thought this was a 87 OVT map lol

I never got this. So you put a bigger throttle body on. It still connects to the same sized, necked down from the throttle, intake tract. Is the intake for a tacoma? Then its restricted pre-throttle body. If not, it still necks down.

How in the world, other than being "ported and polished" () will it make more power?

    Edit messed up my smiley

Because my AFE intake funnels its way down from a really big opening at the mouth to a little one at the end, then I have a straight silicone coupler, then the throttle body is ported and polished at the mouth down to normal sized at the end, and then the URD adapter plate is cut at an angle so that again, the mouth is larger than the end of it. All this creates one, continuous, and constantly decreasing in size (increasing air intake velocity) intake tract. Then I have a free flowing, de-catted exhaust to allow the motor to flow as best it can. Now I am waiting to have Mat write me a custom tune incorporating all of these additions. Thats how it makes more power

Rogue Offroad puts the package together, but its a URD adapter plate and Rogue OR wants like 800 bucks for a new throttle body. What I did was order one refurb'd one off CarID with a warranty and have it shipped directly to Rogue OR for $180, and then Rogue ships it out to be ported and polished. Alternatively, you could just find somebody to do that and call up Gadget at URD to get the throttle plate through him. Either way, its a pretty straightforward mod, everything plugs right in except you have to clock the tundra tb at a different angle to install it but everything makes sense when you look at it, the tundra TB is just different with where things are placed around it

Do you have pictures of the ported TB? Maybe even a side by side with the stock Tacoma TB? I ported the Tacoma TB on my ‘16 and have been thinking about doing the one on the ‘17. For $180 + $65 for the adapter I may just do that instead. Having a spare to work on sounds better anyways.

Home ported stock TB. I don’t have pics of the unported one.

*this was on a OVTuned MT truck, so sorta on topic

Honeybadger continues to be.. a honeybadger.

FWIW, I haven't experienced any degradation in the feel of 04B13 yet. WOT pull in second gear is quite good for a Toyota calibration lol

These are true statements lol the tune is enjoyable to drive and like i said, I would think it was a 87 OVT if I didn't know better. It really is how the truck should have been from the beginning.

What I'm wondering is what OV's focus for the tune will become, now that less people are likely to flock to the tune purely based on drivability improvement. I've no doubt that OV's forthcoming 1.05 will be a great improvement over what 04B13 offers us now, but less people are going to drop 770$ for drivability alone. I wonder if the focus will shift more towards performance or perhaps there's a factor I'm missing and not considering. Obviously it's an easy choice for existing OV customers who are already financially invested

Better low end torque with increased fuel economy would be my requests. Remember a while back Matt had a meeting with Toyota? I keep wondering if the new Toyota tune was a result of that meeting.

Perhaps, but I could swear he insisted to people in the Alpha thread that it wasn't Tacoma related. Who knows? lol

I suppose the improved low end torque and better fuel economy will be standard improvements. I know I very much appreciate the lower end being more usable on the ov maps, especially off road

Well, Mat did say a while back that 1.05 includes a difference in the way torque or requested torque is calculated. This would relate directly to throttle being more like a cable IIRC what he posted.

In any case, if issues crop up at least I can go back to a decent stock calibration and not want to push my truck off a cliff.

IMO, these new OEM files will make OVTune a better product - ie Mat will have to up his game :)

It was Camry related. And coincidentally the Tacoma has a Camry motor lol
