Thank you for wrapping everything up in short words, makes a lot of sense if there have been bad experiences. I've read a bit here and there, but didn't think much of it.

Now that I know what's up, I'll sit back with my coffee and do some reading.

I was assuming OV was a flash & tuning tool. If it's just a flash tool based on their dyno time and development, I'll wait to see if there will ever be end user tuning features. I'm thinking back to when I had flash pro on a Honda. It was fun to watch my tuner do 20+ pulls tuning every table he could.

Mat is, or has said he is, working on tools for custom tuning. i believe the first version will be through data logging via Techstream. anyone correct me if I'm not accurate on that.

no. it's a tune requiring it. it cannot be installed without the TSB and does not substitute for it. what I'm seeing around here is that 1.05 will be 'essentially' the TSB + a tune on top. probably better than 1.04R?... who knows

My dealer won't update my ECU because the TSB that they see says it's for automatics only. Any tips on how to get them to apply the TSB since it specifies AT only?
I'm a little confused with this whole thing. Is there truly a single TSB intended for both AT and MT or are there separate TSB's?
If I update, will all the equipment purchased from OVTune still work with the TSB flashed ECU when 1.05 comes out or will I have to reregister with OVTune at that point. Or.. am I better off waiting for 1.05 to come out since it would be tailored for my current 04B12 ECU?

I ran in to the same issue. The TSB clearly lists our ECU's but the dealerships don' give AF.

you have options. the easiest way most likely is to find a local TW user who's done it and can help you. there are some OH folks around in this thread iirc.

you'll need to read up on experiences reported here to see how people dealt with stubborn dealers. the TSB description was incorrectly written, so finding someone in a service dept either in the know or willing to take the risk is gonna be a crap shoot.

again I'm saying if you're not having big issues with your current setup, don't mess with it and wait for 1.05, which Mat is saying will take care of everything in one install

that's not correct. 1.05 will have the full code upgrade that's the TSB, along with the new tune that is 1.04R (or whatever new tune he includes in 1.05). at least this is my understanding... today. lol

You can only run 1.04R if you have the 04B13 TSB update done. If not, 1.04 is your tune until 1.05 comes out.

Thanks for the insight. No big issues with 1.04, just the dip in power when starting forward motion from a stop, the dip/stumble shifting into second, and some semblance of throttle delay when hitting the gas on a downshift to climb a steeper grade. Still lightyears ahead of stock. I will wait for Mat to release 1.05, worth it as always!

Go back and look at the question I was replying too. It had nothing to do with 1.05.

My post #1027 my dealer was reluctant but I showed him these pics. After he saw these they flashed my truck.
    Just my experience.

Just flashed version 4 on 2017 MT 91 after not being impressed with 87. It seemed to work on the computer "successful!" but can hardly tell a difference. Maybe a little more torque starting at 2400 instead of 3400 but could be wishful thinking. I generally have the truck loaded to gross weight. STILL having to shift to 4th to maintain speed on a moderate hill going 70. It is still a slug from a dead stop. Did I screw something up? For nearly $800 they should have a phone number.

No, I felt the same way. I never noticed a huge jump in power, but 5/6th gear did allow for more highway usage. Throttle response was helped a lot by the tune too. But nonetheless these trucks need to be rung to at least 3500rpm to maintain its speeds at elevation/steep passes. I’m really hoping 1.05 is a game changer, or else I’m regearing to 4.88/5.29.

Let me know if its worth going through the hassle to do the TSB if 1.04R is good. I am a little hesitant on forcing the update myself via a hacked version of TS
