Feels about the same to me in that situation. Try getting some more miles on it and let it learn in. Then see how it is.

Why does it matter? When is mashing it in 6th ever beneficial?

45 is crazy low rpm in 6th. That is 1500rpm in 6th going 45mph. I wouldn't even try that in 5th. I stay in 4th and use 5th at 50mph and switch to 6th at 60+mph on flats.

Where I do this is a down hill run through a small town. I only do this when traveling south through this town. My return trip is during school hours and then here are 2 school zones that are signaled by local sheriffs officers so there is no just rolling through town.

If you haven’t done it you would not know but you have to get really deep into the lower rpm range to get this engine to lug. It performs really well in the low rpm range. Especially when crawling around off road. Better than the 4.0 in my FJ ever did.

How true,I rarely if ever use 6th gear 4th @70mph or 5th @80 mph on the highway keeps it close to the powerband needed for passing and hills around here.

if someone is having actual issues with 6th I would like to know and get some logs of it. If you're driving the same way you always have been, and it doesn't feel right we need to know. Send us an email to request the logger, or download it from Flash Manager update in a few days and submit logs.

I'm in 6th at 40-45 daily during my commute. Back road, mostly flat. The truck will do it easily, you only have to give it a bit of throttle. It's not lugging either. Usually 5th is enough to get along over small hills at that range.

Thanks Mat for summing it up. Let me know how to take logs, I’d love to send them. I am doing a few hundred miles over the weekend so this could be a great opportunity.

Can anyone describe their experience with 1.05 tip-in in first gear taking off from a stop? My two pet peeves with the truck is the inconsistency taking off from a stop and the first to second gear stumble. Although temperature does seem to play a part, it seems humidity effects both scenarios even more. Sometimes she takes off like a champ from a stop, other times it seems she hiccups as soon as the clutch grabs and sometimes results in an embarrassing stall. Thus the result of the inconsistency in throttle response.

Get more speed and momentum when you switch to 2nd or don't press on the pedal too hard is my only advice.

probably too early to assess this since you want to see climate variations. but so far it's totally different from all previous versions on take off for me. just one day, 60F medium humidity, clear sunny day.

I'm waiting to post a more comprehensive review, but shifting has been much better for me. First to second has been smooth with almost no bogging and I haven't noticed my normal 4th to 5th driveline clunk.
