    I generally park in 1st if i back into a parking space/garage and reverse if i go in forward. that way, if for some reason i start it up in gear, i have a better chance of not hitting something. of course, i'm sure that if i do start it up in gear by accident, it will be the time that i didn't follow that rule....

    I work in the mining industry I am not chocking the tires on anything that is not being jacked to work on up off duty. Unless there is some sort of mechanical failure. We have a 100% chocking rule at work. If you stop to piss you have to chock the wheels. Gets really old after 10 years or so. Fawking hate picking up muddy, nasty chock blocks.
