Last year I did an informal poll on Toyota's website of '18 Taco manuals vs. autos for sale nationwide and came up with a manual take rate of about 7%.

This informal TW poll shows an OV Tune manual take rate of about 19%.

Us MT owners are under-represented in sales but over-represented in performance mods, thus showing how committed we are (or perhaps should be o_O ).

Mat has said he has over 2000 ovtune tacoma customers. My guess is 5-10% of those are manuals.

He did say, iirc, that the ratio of AT to MT was like 50:1

If he wasn't exaggerating or just spitballing, and if we just use 2000 as a nice round number for total customers, that would put us at 40 MT customers. If you do 5% of 2000, you're looking at 1000.

I'd be willing to assume somewhere between 50-75 of us, probably not 100

So I had just loaded 04B13 and took it for a drive when the tune files dropped. My observations with just the switch to 04B13 from 12 was that it seemed a lot smoother with steady acceleration through each gear. I didn’t notice any stutter like I used to have. When I got back I loaded 04B13 93 tune. The change was extremely noticeable. Same conistent acceleration through out the gears but much faster. I took from 1st to 4th several times and it is night and day quick to what it was before (haven’t had enough room to get to 5th and 6th). I tested out higher rev limiter and it is fun for sure but probably won’t hit it that often. So far very satisfied. Gonna take the wife and kid for a longer drive now to get some lunch and see if I can get a little more feedback on it. Great job Matt @OVTune !

    Good info.

I think it was said that all MTs are now hovering around 3% in the US market? I do think Tacos exceed that by at least double and agree that on or off of TW, MT owners are generally more enthusiastic.

It would be great to get scientific poll numbers.

I give Toyota huge credit for continuing to offer the Taco with a manual transmission, and a pretty decent one too! Guessing in ten years these will be unicorns to buy new and highly-sought used.

No. The dongle is a USB device resembling what you'd plug in to your computer to use a wireless mouse or keyboard

Update: Retracting review until I get more miles on it. The initial excitement caused me to jump the gun. No issues to report, updated report coming after a few hundred miles.
