2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

Easy there bro I haven't. As a matter of fact, I've been bringing those two things up from the start.. along with a coupla others.

Definitely no loss under 3k... unless you mean compared to the 91. That is harder to tell. It's definitely still "smooth" and I'm still able to run lower RPM's, like 35-40 in 5th, etc. Have more testing still to do on how it compares to the 91, but in this case its definitely better than stock.

 

Got my dongle registered. ECU read. Now just waiting on the goods

I'd say Ovtune in general is taking off... between all the Toyota platforms he's released lately (3.5s and 4.0s, along with non-yotas) I wouldn't be shocked if he's gotten hundreds of additional orders (doubt 6,000 but still l'm sure a lot). Enough he was able to buy a (tax deductible...sigh) "R&D" truck that I have a feeling he's about to have a lot of fun with!

Anyone running the 87 tune have a report about mileage changes? I'm really just looking for drivability but I don't want to have to sacrifice much in the way of mpgs... already losing that battle with bigger tires and armor.

 

if it was actually order 8000 I'd be freaking out because there is no possible way I can do that many.

I'm hitting about the limit of what I can support right now with toyota / mazda / nissan. Won't be doing any new stuff for a long while, as I do have a lot of plans for this truck! You guys will see soon once a few things get here.

 

I just got mine tune files, need to go flash them. I’ve got quite a bit of driving to do this week so should have a pretty good idea by Friday.

 

still pretty early to be definitive... but out of the gate it looks like no/minimal change.

In the past, it's taken 2-3 full tank cycles (~1000 miles) to get things settled in for a "real" reading.

Coming from the stock tune, its a vast improvement just in the little bit I’ve driven so far. If anyone is on the fence, GET YOUR ORDER IN!

Did you go straight to the 91 tune?

 

Nope I’m running the 87 tune with no alcohol 87 in the tank. There’s 91 around, but there’s a lot of places around here that don’t have it. With what I’ve seen out of the 87 tune so far, I don’t personally see a need to goto the 91.

 

Wow, ok, well now I'm drooling even more in anticipation of receiving the kit!

 

It’s totally worth the wait!
