i can say after a day of commuting, that the torque gains in lower rpm on the 87 tune are fully there as much as the 91. Smooth and good power. Still revs pretty good.... just lacks that PUNCH the 91 tune had.

I’ve already put 45 miles on :yay:

I’ll have another 500 or so by the end of the week. Zero complaints thus far.

Definitely seems to be more power in the low end, it doesn’t bog down in second gear like it did before. Power delivery is more linear, I haven’t noticed the surges at 2500 and 3500 rpm. Much more predictable

Ive been following this thread a while. A couple questions for you guys running it as im thinking of pre-ordering.

1)Does the ect button still add additional boost ontop of this tune flr when i tow?

2)How many did this and wished they regeared instead?

    3) i have the off road 4x4 so do i choose the bottom option in drop down to order that says “crawl” in description?

    Thanks

There’s no ect button in the manual - post in the auto specific thread.

I ran the 87 tune so far (with 91 fuel) and noticed the 3000 RPM wait wait wait - 3500 ZOOM phenomenon again. Will switch to 91 tune tonight and see what that is like.

How many miles on the 87 tune do/did you have? I just loaded up the 87 tune this morning and noticed the VVT surge again. Not as much as 1.02/1.01, but definitely more than 1.03/91. It was not nearly as harsh as before though, and I am usually about ready to shift when I get there.

First impressions with a fresh tank of 87 and the matching tune.... Definitely doesn't have the snap/pep of the 91 tune, but all the low end grunt is pretty much there. The same smoothness and driveability comes along too. 91 is currently $0.65/gal more here so I am looking forward to saving about $15/week on gas.

I notice it on mine but it also pulls much better down low. I used to feel it around 2500 rpm too and that seems to be mostly leveled out now. It’s a huge improvement coming from the stock tune

this is still an issue... it has changed with the tuning but it's still there. i think there's some very complex relationships going on about this, so it's probably seriously hard to tune for that smooth transition.

but i'm looking at that transition as being the number one thing to nail on this tune. hang & DFCO come second for me.

I sometimes wonder if there is anything mechanical to blame for why these trucks "come alive" after 3500 RPMs in auto or manual flavors. Definitely more linear w/ the tune and honestly it's powerful enough in the low end it doesn't bother me b/c when I punch it I know the power is there (and the throttle is predictable enough with the tune I KNOW it will GO and not hesitate). But still would love to know an expert explanation for why it turns into a rocket ship at 3,500 quite suddenly

glad ur not making the decisions as to what's important in this tune then... JK.

above all else the throttle response (clutch in) needs to be much more consistent. that's not just coming from a 04B10 perspective, it's across versions.

by the way, are your shift and caps lock keys all broken? wait, i'll bet you're tapping that in on a phone, aren't you?

dunno, sentence structure and grammar have never been strong points of mine.

I'm probably b10 as well, build date was 9/15 or 10/15. Waiting to hear the problems are addressed before pulling the trigger.

The only change I've noticed is a slight muting of throttle response in all situations compared to right after flashing. Power is still there, down low and especially up high.

There's a very good chance you are in fact 04B10 (pretty much 100%). Having said that, the tune we do have is night and day compared to stock. The truck is literally a different animal to drive, much more enjoyable. I daily mine, runs like a top - no weirdness. Are there some issues that still need to be addressed? Yep, but none that would disappoint enough to make you think you just burned $800 bucks. Mat HAS PROMISED US that he will deal with 04B10. To me, that means a fully developed tune with all the enhancements and future goodies that the B11 and B12 guys get.

End of the day, your money.

    @stevotivo12 , @Ares32 - what's your opinion on the 'B10 tune Mat gave us - worth it?

220 miles on the tune so far. I haven’t filled up with gas yet but from what’s left in the tank (half) and what I’m usually at for mileage, it’s definitely not worse mpg. Once I get some more miles on I’ll post some mpg figures. My truck is stock TRD OR btw - no lift, tires or armor.

I just flashed the 87 tune. Then I filled my tank up with 87. Now I'm stuck with it until I run it out of gas.
