If you get to try the patch, I am curious to hear how it works for you. I am feeling the same way. I have CAI in and MBRP muffler, but otherwise stock. I'm going to give it one more tank full to be sure, but a return to 1.04 seems likely for me also, at this point.

Still lurking on here and reading about all the updates. Back and forth on pulling the trigger. How is the newest release for everyone? I did the tsb a few months ago and def liked the improvement, but I felt it still lacked. I am not looking for more power just would like to have it available in a more realistic rpm. So is there power in the low end with this tune? How is the guessing game with the shifting? I just purchased the accumulator delete and will do that when I am back home in a month. I am either going to lift the truck or get the tune. Leaning towards the tune. However someone just mentioned that 1.05b was “undriveable”. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Oh. Also 91 is not available where I live so it would have to be 87 tune.

If Mat can get the thing to rev while in motion for rev matched downshifts, that would be a huge step in the right direction. It just won't free rev with the clutch in and the truck moving.
Whats undriveable for me, might be just right for others. There's a lot of personal preference when it comes to driving manuals. Also, 1.05 is still 900% better than the stock tune, you won't be disappointed.

Yup, all preference. For me there is a bit too much lag when applying the throttle pedal. Very noticeable stationary at idle with the clutch in. A quick tap of the pedal does not get a reaction that feels anything like 1:1 to me. For me, there is a way too much pedal travel before the engine reacts, and then it hangs there for what seems an eternity and then winds down, even after my foot is already back on the floor.

That's weird. Mine is too responsive from a dig running 1.05 on 93 and 91 octane. A lot of clutch slippage on take off. Then, once up to speed, blipping the throttle does little to nothing. For a 3-2 rev matched downshift at 35mph, I have to hold the throttle pedal to the floor for at least one second to match rpm.

I am on 87. haven't tried higher octane tunes. Prices are way to high here to even try justifying it. Blipping the throttle, stationary or moving at speed, is as I described above. I have to press into further than I'd like then wait for it to start catching up then a couple of quick feathers of the throttle to get the revs I want. So for now, I give the throttle a bit of a head start before I start to let out the clutch from a standing start. And when slowing down, I compensate the 4-3-2 down shifts like the old 4 speed days, gear is miles per hour/10: 4th = 40, 3rd = 30, 2nd = 20.

Yeah, I have a '49 Dodge pickup with a non synchronized 4 speed. Un-smooth shifting is not an option while driving it, so not being able to smoothly shift the Tacoma 100% of the time gets really annoying for me.

I think the tune is well worth the investment. The truck responds much better than the stock calibration. Throttle/engine response is much better and that by itself is worth it to me. I was really frustrated with the stock calibration throttle/engine response, so just making that better was a great step forward.

    Pros:
    1. Throttle and engine response
    2. Engine response/smooth power delivery
    3. Reduced rev hang
    Further Improvement areas?: @OVTune
    1. Further reduce/remove rev hang
    2. (I'll add more ideas - if this is helpful?)

What in particular is giving you problems on 1.05b? Throttle response inconsistency (blip especially)?

I will let @AJSfab expand on his experience, but for me, the throttle response seems to "lag", (not sure that is the right word), all around, it is just much more noticeable when the clutch is in, or the transmission is in neutral.

Lack of throttle response while the truck is moving,(can't rev match smoothly), tip in is way too aggressive from a dig and between gears, and lastly, rev hang is back with a vengeance. Its weird that the throttle can be so touchy from dead stop, but blipping to downshift there is almost nothing there.

Thanks for the response, my experience was similar - and I emailed Mat with feedback.
I don't mind touchy tip-in, but I'm right with you on the blip delay while in motion. Maybe this single map for all gears patch Mat mentioned will help in the long run. I guess we'll have to see what shakes out.

So OVtune's establishment is in Virginia.... is there a M/T owner local to him willing to lend their truck for testing should Mat need it?

You have our eternal gratitude in advance :hattip:

    This is a serious question.

Well. Take off the trailer, ditch the rack and RTT and the truck drives great lol. Haven't had my rtt off for over a year. Finally got a garage again.

That drive on a stock tune was rough I was in 3,4,5 for the entire trip.

Stock trucks, do not tow great Haha.
