This business with DFCO and Rev Hang is actually super interesting, now that Mat is able to provide some insight on it.

You never know, perhaps some of the complex interactions within this shitshow of a calibration will unfuck themselves the more Mat digs in there lol..

I mean, looking at the A/T complexity - there's no doubt the more stuff that gets tried the better off we'll all be.

I can only guess at the level of frustration @OVTune is experiencing, having no doubt thought that he was at the end of the road yet again with tuning these trucks lol

The farther I dig the more the fun I have.

Even better news is when our new flash manager is finished...updating will be so simple. We can get stuff done so much quicker.

@OVTune are you able to speculate on why those of us with some weight added onto our trucks were actually seeing better fuel economy with 1.05A FO and the recent FO test map when compared with 1.05B, even though FO was supposed to be a trade off of power vs mpg?

I suspect that it has something to do with the truck not having to work as hard overall but I don't know if I'm right. My own fuel economy only continued to climb from the last time I'd emailed you about that observation, before eventually finding it's happy spot in the high 16s

i dont see any solution to DFCO other than removing it.
the problem with this is coding will have to be applied to supply measured fuel to simulate idle state as in PRE DFCO vehicles.there can be 2 side effects from this ,first reduced engine braking second reduced rev drop.

the benefits are you should be able to achieve a much more smooth and aggressive tip in and greatly reduce clunking and bucking.
if we remove the DFCO and REVHANG this will be the closest you will get to throttle by cable feel in this truck.but are you guys ready to give up engine braking!! I AM!!!!

Cable EFI had DFCO. It just cut the injectors above some RPM near 1,500 when the throttle was sitting on the idle stop after a few seconds. The thing is that when the injectors came back on, those cars didn't leap forward because the throttle plate was not hanging open at 15%.

I am not willing to give up engine braking off road. Hence the reason I asked about maybe making it operate differently in 4lo than in 4Hi. Mat said that cannot be done in that way, however.

I don't off-road so defco isn't a huge killer for me it is just annoying. I do not want to give up engine braking though. That is a lot of the reason I drive manual vehicles

Idk why you'd want to give up engine braking lol plus, engine braking off road is a benefit, not a curse

Yeah, right now you get an initial solid engine break and then it sort of lets go and you need to downshift again to maximize the use of it

consistency is the key. that's what the whole discussion is about. consistent behavior is predictable & safe.

Disabling DFCO completely equals zero engine brake and truck drives itself, so that's not happening.

i respectfully disagree. pre DFCO vehicles had sufficient engine braking and rev drop!
