I'm not sure whats going on, P5Flash completed sucessfully, but it doesnt feel any different...tip in feels the same...redlines the same. i'll try a reflash in the am, with 91FOB and see if that makes a difference. Thanks Shellshock:thumbsup:

Is this your first tune or did you come from a previous one? 1.05FOB is hugely noticeable right away. If not, the flash didn’t take or your truck is a huge fatty.

First tune, trucks stock except for wheels and running boards.I dont suppose there is any way to check the flash, other than it saying it completed it sucessfully?

Has anybody else noticed something fishy happening with the mpg tracker? For example for a commute to work i'll start with a tank average of 15.8mpg, finish the drive at 15.6mpg average, while getting 16.7mpg for the trip. How could the average drop while my mpg from A to B is higher than the average? Im a bit ocd in watching my fuel gauge. Ive never seen it do this until the most recent 91fob on 04A70.

Since my first tune I have always run 87 based tubes. Finally filled up with 93 octane and decided to give 04B13 93FOB a try . I can honestly say I don’t feel enough of a difference to justify running fuel that costs $0.80 more per gallon (+~$15 per fill up). I’ll contiue to run the 93 tune until I need to fill up again to see if something changes, otherwise I’m going back to 04B13 87FOB.

One side note, with the 93 tune, I noticed the exhaust smelled quiet rich during the 10 minute idle “break in”. Normally the exhaust fumes go “clear” too on a warm engine but it seemed to continue to pump out white. Not particularly cold outside, about 55F. Anyone else notice this?

there's a crazy file coming "later this week" for 04B13 that opens the intake from maybe under 1800 up instead of the dreaded 3500+ surge. DL via FM when announced. for heavy trucks. and me. :D

Bruh! Obviously you're a fatty! LOL!

You know, I've been wondering, have you done any weight reduction mods?

This is funny subject when thinking about a 4,000lb truck. But, it does make me happy to ditch (useless) weight.

    Gone:
    -- Engine cover and bracket
    -- Axle dump
    -- Sway bar
    -- Accumulator
    -- Air damn
    -- Functional Skewp Mod

But, I did add / carry:
-- Hitch shackle, strap, and shackle
    -- Bed stiffeners
    -- Roll-up tonneau
    -- Tailgate seals
    -- Full "C" harnesses
-- 120lb of tube sand in the winter

In total, probably about the same weight as stock, but I'd at least like to think that I shifted the CG to the rear.

It is also interesting to think about how many cars have higher curb weights than the Tacos.

i wouldn't go that far to remove stuff for weight savings... that's for a car. BUT i have done silly things like buying SDHQ sliders because they're the lightest available... and the most expensive, so call me a sucker like they all do in the slider threads.

when i chose my wheels i got light Six Shooters, 21lbs each, because i knew E range tires were mounting up, so it comes out pretty balanced in the end. with the truck i don't mind carrying stuff around or installing a big bass stereo system that's kinda heavy. my R32 had all kinds of stereo stuff waiting to install from day one, and i never did it because i have too much fun tossing a light car around. with the truck it's still fun to toss around at 5k lbs since I'm setup for it.

If you're going to do actual weight savings, the wheels are the place to do it, all things being equal. It ain't a bad side effect that they look killer.

I swear, my friend's 37s on his Bronco are lighter than my stockers on the Taco.

interestingly, the first tires i got were C range. i hated it so much i removed them 200 miles later and sold them to a local TW member. and aside from all the obvious differences C to E, i thought having heavier tires would probably complement my handling setup choices and how i drive. and that was true. heavier E tires significantly improved my handling ability on the truck from more weight alone. of course I'm talking highway speeds.

That is really interesting. After coming out of decent handling FWD cars, I never really bonded with the wife's Forester. That little bit of height always seemed to throw me off. But, the handling of the Taco has always impressed me. Of course, it feels like a truck. For a truck, it is way more than I could have expected. I like that it is tossable.

It's a big difference driving my Taco vs my GC8. My GC8 weighs about 2800lbs. LOL!

    That's unsprung weight though.

    !!!

LOL! I still need to get over the fear of rolling before I can really start to toss my Taco around. But then again, I drive this thing so slowly due to fuel consumption. LOL!

So... funny story. My RS has more power and a better suspension than the 93 Impreza L wagon I used to have. Buuuutttt... I had that wagon set up so well, it was soooooooooooooo tossable. I would just flick that thing wherever I wanted it. Although, it was a 1.8L, so it took forever to get up to speed... but then I could carry so much speed through the corners.

I haven't driven an OR, but the Sport feels great. It was ridiculously flat with the sway bar, but it needed to go because it was so stiff. Even without, it feels great and still as much fun to corner.
