I ended up going with that laptop and dedicating it to tuning. Research on using a Windows tablet kept leaving me equal parts confident and doubtful about how great it would be. Plus, it was a very appealing idea to be replacing my old laptop with one that could be dedicated to tuning software and Techstream for my Tacoma, the 4runner my wife wants to get in 2020, and whenever I eventually get another racecar lol I also pre-ordered a handheld, but either way a computer will be needed to load maps onto it, just like an Accessport or SCT tuner, so just letting my older laptop die and letting that be that wasn't really an option anyway

i often see these things reported. that delay is far less with OVT vs. OE for me, and any delay has been gradually dialed down as the tune progressed and new versions show. i may still be drive by wire but i can rev match and finely modulate the throttle w/o weird issues. seems I've mostly been the unicorn regarding weird dysfunctional stuff, so there's that. 2017MY 04B12 (tsb for 04B13).

Hey guys I have been out of state working in the oil patch on an extended rotation. What is the status of the tune for the 2019 MT? It was “ any day “ 6 weeks ago. Sorry I just don’t have time to read back thru 100,s of pages of posts. I’m currently wheeling my 03 3rz with all the LC performances goodies thru the frozen wasteland to the rigs but I want my new 19 Pro. @OVTune can you ever do a tune for the 1st gen stuff. Would love to wake up my 3rz a little more.

    I have noticed this to.
theres deffinetly something weird going on with the clutch as I noticed when stoped and clutch engaged it is more muted than when disengaged .
However when pressing the clutch only 1 to 2in down the lag is gone.is the clutch disengaged or is there a sensor on top of the clutch lever as well on the bottom? I haven’t checked yet.
I am personally waiting to see what this single map and ACIS mod does for us before over anylizing this stuff.
The past couple of months Mat seems to be on a roll.

2019 MT tunes are released, depending on the year of the 3.4, it's tuneable

Any thoughts on how the 1.05 FOB tunes feel low on power in the 2-3k RPM range compared to previous versions? I am guessing some of the work you did this weekend will help here. It feels significantly weaker in this area compared to the initial 1.05 release and 1.03/1.04.

I don't have a MT development truck right now so I can't really comment on this yet.
What I do know is that this has always been an issue ever before tuning.

That sucks you guys are having these issues. I haven't experienced either of these. On the contrary, I've experienced exactly the opposite. Not sure how relevant it is but I have noticed a big difference in how the tune takes to my truck if I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then touch the positive and negative leads together prior to reconnecting the battery and running the warm truck at idle for 15 minutes. Hope you get to the bottom of what you are experiencing.

If you're referring to rev matching when downshifting, it's always been there. It is less noticeable on stock due to lack of throttle response in any scenario.

It's not an "issue" per-say, just an observation. I know there is the potential for more power there, because we had it before. I find I have to downshift in places/situations where I wouldn't have previously. Overall I am super happy with the latest 1.05 tunes. They are light years ahead of the stock tune in every way possible.

You say that, but he had an open offer for any MT truck to come to him when he was in CA for dyno tuning. I think only one person (who that was escapes me now) took him up on that offer and it was early in the development stages. MT drivers are few and far between. They may all be here in all honestly. I think Mat said it was something like 5%, if that?

If it's an actual issue, you need to submit it to my zendesk not the forum. I've asked this 10 million times and everyone ignores me.
MT is not a guessing game and majority of actual engine tables are the same as at. How the torque demand controlled per gear is not.

6900 rpm is the Toyota OEM STOCK Rev limit for this engine.

There is only so much I can do, ive reworked damn near everything and have already started working on a patch to eliminate the extra torque control tables in the ecu, but I'm not a freaking magician that can read forum posts and immediately know what's going on and what the answer is.

The laggy throttle out of gear has always been around. I've not heard reports from anyone that this "issue" has appeared after tuning. However I've heard from many that this delay exists right off the lot.

So if it exists off the lot and doesn't change with the tune how's it the tunes fault? Id love to go buy a MT truck but unfortunately to ratio of AT to MT is 100:1, and the AT owners are, as we all know, harsh critics at times. Id go buy a MT test truck if I could. We are doing the best we can with the given feedback and resources.

if you're motivated you can be the MT test mule for OV. all you gotta do is drive there and spend some time.

and now you see why it hasn't happened yet. this was intended to happen since he was in SoCal (where he did briefly have a MT tester but before the tunes took off). stars just never totally aligned. so, you're gonna make it happen?

Put your foot where your mouth is and make it happen. People forget before Matt, there were no options available for a tune. He did the impossible, now your turn. Make it happen.

Yep, we are continually working to continually improve our calibration to make it the absolute BEST possible. But this stuff takes time. There is no big company backing, no huge team of engineers spending hundreds of thousands to figure stuff out. It's just us, as a result...we go as fast as we can.
