It’ll be perfect for the other ECUs after we are done! We’ve had years of pain and suffering to complain about lol

He’s the taco whisperer. 2.0 is a huge leap forward (again)

Just got back from a 30 min drive after flashing 2.0 beta. LOVED IT! Huge improvement from 1.05 in my opinion. Most noticeably in downshifting (see: rev hang) and also acceleration and responsiveness.

Can’t wait to see how it continues to improve after a few more drives, but initial impressions are very good.

In my honest opinion the difference between 1.05 and 2.0 is more noticeable than stock vs 1.05, so that speaks for itself.

Just flashed 2.0 beta (93 octane) and did a quick test drive in town and a couple of miles on the interstate. Initial impressions are very good, probably the smoothest it's ever been through all the gears. That annoying surge of power (usually around 3500k) seems to be completely gone now vs. 1.05 were it was greatly reduced vs. stock. I had been running 1.05 FOB 91, since it came out.

    Hey, @OVTune !

I just finished four separate drives with just shy of 100mi on the 87 2.0 Test tune.

This was the last one on my favorite back roads, a bit of traffic, and highway cruise:
    IMG_20190729_184155.jpg
    Sorry about the dust!

    My observations:

-- A bit less grunt down low compared to 1.05 87 FOB. I miss it just a bit, but the crazy linear acceleration from idle to redline at all throttle angles more than makes up for it.

-- In steady driving, the throttle pedal is much more deliberate and requires more input to hold a speed. I actually like this and will get used to it very soon.

-- This tune in stop-n-go traffic is excellent, esp when folks don't get moving like they should. Previously, I would get a small jerk through the driveline. I would credit this to the throttle mapping and per gear consistency?

-- Off throttle coasting feels much more consistent. I haven't been coasting near idle in traffic yet. My gut tells me that it will be much more predictable?

-- The only downside is the pinging. We chatted via Zendesk about this a bit. You said to try higher octane with 87 Base. I screwed up and filled up with 87 again, so I tried 87 FOB. 87 Base was less so and was both getting on and off the throttle.

The last run of 87 FOB it was there, but barely.

With 2.0 87 Test, it is louder than ever, but only getting off the throttle. Low rpms, heavier engine load, and lifting off the throttle, I get a loud set of valve pings.

    I had this on the 04B13 also. I can't remember 04B2.

In the end, I don't think this has anything to do with the tunes. I am close to a fill up and will try 91 2.0 test on 92 octane unless you have another suggestion or fix.

-- Finally, I have a question. This was like this at least on 1.05 and was probably this way on the stock tunes. Why when coasting in DFCO does the engine use more fuel than in closed loop idling (0.2gal/hr)? If it matters, I took this screenshot on 2.0 Test.

    Screenshot_20190729-172000.jpg

Shouldn't the fuel flow in DFCO be 0.0gal/hr regardless of RPM? For me in DFCO, the higher the RPM, the higher the flow rate.

Thanks again! This is certainly the best tune yet even if I have to run 92 in hot weather. :D

    @OVTune

I’ve got just shy of 100 miles so far and things seem good so far. Throttle is consistent and there is a noticeable increase in mid range smoothness and performance. This is the best my truck has felt.

The only weird thing I’ve noticed is the rpms seem to fall at different rates in 1&2 depending on when you shift. <3500 rpm falls noticeably faster than if you shift >3500 rpm. I usually don’t get up that high but it was definitely noticeable.

Fuel economy according to the MFD is showing a decent improvement too. Currently sitting at 21.5 and I’d usually be around 20-20.5 with this driving.

Trip home saw nearly 23 mpg.

Glad I saw this before the files get taken down. I only will flash 87 tune, no 93 gas in Utah. Will report when I get miles on her.
10 pm here in Utah, going to as soon as my laptop has more power. Screw sleep! BETA 2.0 !!!!!!

    Mostly stuff I built.
2nd-4th gears are great. Truck finally feels like it pulled it head out of its ass. Fewer maps to get confused over? 5th is good from 15-2500 but could use some more aggressiveness on throttle mapping. 6th gear is ok throttle response is there but it needs more body to it for lack of a better word. Holds speed well in 6th @ 70-75mph.

Agreed, and for an 87 file I was surprised how well 2.0 pulled hills in 6th on the highway. 1.05FOB 87 wasn't as good in that scenario on my truck, but then again it would stutter and break up pretty badly in the midrange.

Morning commute today yielded 9.9L/100km, which is consistent or maybe a tiny bit better than 1.05. I have a lot more driving to do!

I can't say that for sure, but it has changed. Check out the other reviews, and try it yourself!

The other benefits are worth flashing the file.
