Had an issue with the transfer case actuator, they said it was normal, finally took a very overweight (like barely fit in the truck) service advisor for a test drive in the parking lot, he had to walk back across the parking lot in 95 degree heat becaue I wasn't backing up a half mile in 4 lo, and I sure wasn't about to make a turn on pavement and have the warranty voided. I was genuinely concerned about the poor guy making it back to air conditioning. Then the service manager comes tells me its normal and he couldn't get the service manual....then I pulled out the service manual and schooled him in front of customers....he whipped my keys across the show room

^This is why tacoma world is great, you get access to service manuals and service bulletins so when the service manager claims to not have access to everything, you can just hand them a printed out copy and completely turn the tables.

Same (ish) asking about TSBs when they're "not available" and such. But that was back when I had an auto.... :anonymous:

thats when you put the TSB down on the counter and watch their facial expressions. it makes for an entertaining encounter. Especially when the service advisor doesn't understand the difference between a TSB and a recall.

Or when the Techs and Master Techs hate their service advisors because they have no problem doing the tsb or other things yet the SA wants to play boss...

    @OVTune ,

Good morning Mat, happy to report the Ginger is still behaving (no stutter!!) on 2.0 Beta 87. Drives really well, although I DO long for that 91 octane power bump!

Is there anything else you require regarding feedback on this version of the tune?

If not, and at your leisure, may I suggest another round of public beta release to other ECUs (those snot nosed 18 and 19 guys, before they lose it :)) and release of the long awaited single torque map files for public evaluation.

    Just a friendly nudge :D

Edit: BTW, the ACIS tuning is spot on IMO. I really like the much more linear power delivery.

I 2nd this. The VVTi is also much better. I do feel it a little bit at lower rpm and mid to high engine load, but that's my fault for not shifting. It is definitely a huge improvement and I don't think I would want you to mess with it. I imagine it is about as good as it can be.

Loving the mid-range power that has come back and seriously looking forward to the single torque map. 2ng gear is just nutty compared to the others.... I can only imagine what it will be with single torque.

Also, I am getting about 3-4mpg better on 87 than I was before so far. I only have ~200 miles on the 2.0 test tune though.

    Definitely loving it so far.

Guess I missed out on this. Had too much going on with the house lately. I really don't get to drive the truck enough to post feedback at this point anyway. Sounds as if it is gonna be great, especially with the dump tubes.....keep it up guys.

Would anyone thats flashed 2.0 care to make a small video showing the rev hang by just revving the motor in neutral?

If so that would be appreciated.

I still haven't purchased it.. It's the only reason I would want the tune, I know you guys say its wonderful, but so are my 4.88s that ive been running for 3 years.

We say it's "wonderful" because it is. If elimination of artificial rev hang is your only reason to buy the tune, well, it's your money... But, boy are you going to be surprised.

    :)

Your 4.88's are great I'm sure (I'd rather have a crawl box), but the tune fixes a few things that gears cannot.

    Ha!

I am surprised that the single table is not in there. The consistency is already next level.

I do not think that is possible as the first step is registering you computer System ID to get the REG file to unlock Flash Manager. Then, the tune files are locked to your VIN within FM.

Simply, a computer is a requirement of the tune. It just isn't provide by OVT.

Folks here, like @Shellshock , have had great luck with Bootcamp on an Apple, if you are of THAT persuasion. :D

You don't need much out of a basic low cost lap top to run Flash Manager. You might end up using it for other needs as well. I was able to get Toyota Tech Stream to work on my laptop, double bonus.
