i definitely do not agree that most understand. but that's beside the point.

let me answer your question in 2 ways..

The question, at least for me is, how dramatically does it change driveability and responsiveness?

    1) seriously, speaking for myself i have answered this repeatedly in this thread, other OV threads, and numerous other threads asking the question. always some version of the same answer, but i agree it can be hard to find it all.

    2) it changes throttle response and how that transforms to linear motor output.
    - press the throttle 10%, expect 10% motor, get 10% motor.
    - press throttle 62%, expect 62%, get 62%, etc.
    - be able to do this continually in real time, like on the highway in traffic on a wet road at 80mph in a MT (me last night)... you work your throttle continually to modulate torque, rear load, and clutch to maintain balance. i could not do this skillfully on the stock tune, no chance at all. i do it all day everyday now with OVT. with my setup, which is for chassis responsiveness, having numb inconsistent non-linear throttle killed the handling and all the enjoyment, and performance, of the drive. this is now 100% fixed on my truck.

and then there's the torque bump, which I'm not even talking about. just being able to use the throttle is a full game changer for me.

    any q's lemme know.

I like to research everything I buy, almost to a fault. Read 40+ of the 61 pages. I was sold after I got to page 30 but still read to page 61.

Bought my 2018 white off-road 6psd last tues 12/19 and bought this tune on 12/23. Can’t wait to join my brothers in hailing a** on the road.

    Cheers.

How do you find the stock '18 tune? I have a '18 that I have about 3,000K on and to me it's actually not that bad. I ordered the tune and it's on it's way and I'm sure hope I see a difference. I bought the OV tune before the truck was delivered.

I have 90 miles on it so I’ll provide my initial feedback.

I babied it for the first 50 Miles then the next 40 I drove it like I stole it. I have trouble accelerating from first to second. Not that quick off the line. Prob need to get use to it. Once I hit 2nd the truck will move. Very curious how the OV tune will help.

I was also finding the shift from 1st to second difficult. It was hard to make a smooth shift but it has gotten better. First gear is fairly low does make for a difficult shift as the rpms rise. I like the idea of the low first gear because the truck will be used to pull my TT.

Does that mean we drive the corolla of the truck world? Under powered, but reliable?

    I wouldn't call 278hp underpowered.

This truck is not under powered. In fact I think it's the abundance of top end that makes this truck feel comparatively lethargic in the low end, though it isn't. When this thing hits 3.5k rpm with the throttle more than 1/2 engaged I challenge anyone to say with a straight face it's underpowered. That 3.5k rpm hit, the extremely poor throttle response and being ridiculously under geared (especially in the AT) really does a number on the low end feeling from a driver's perspective.

I envy you MT guys in that I believe OVtune will ultimately fix what is wrong with this truck for you 100%. I don't think you will NEED to regear unless you have a fully kitted expo rig that is 600 lbs+ more than stock with 33 inch+ tires. While I still think that for me to be really happy with my AT I may have to ultimately regear. I have the tune and have only run the 87 tune so far and I'm very happy with what it's done for the throttle response, so I may be wrong after I try the 91 tune with more power, we'll see. Fingers crossed. I'm watching this thread because I was/am considering trading for a 2018 MT but I can't quite make myself take the $8k hit...

I just had a TSB done for my MT due to a faulty trip meter. The dealer was kind enough to put me in an AT for a week. Afterward, I was grateful of the MT (with or without an OVTune). I empathize with all AT owner’s frustrations now. I suggest if you can somehow decrease an 8k loss by selling instead of trading, don’t look back and get yourself into an MT. Life’s too short.

I hear you...and if I could get a MT in LB that would probably put me over the hump...but I can't. I'm very close to going with a go fast campers setup that would allow me to sleep 4 in the truck that just would not be possible with a 5ft bed. It will most likely be a $2k 4.88 regear for me...unless I decide to go with some sort of pull behind instead... decisions, decisions. :)

I've got an MT 6' bed. :) Granted you'd have to give up it being an OR. I think you can get it in Pro but that's quite a bit extra.
