That is your ECU calibration ID look in the calibration column for the engine and the last several characters show 04A71

ETA I was wrong in thinking that 04B13 was applicable to the 18's. 04b13 was the update for the 16's and 17's that was rolled into 04A71 for the 18's

I've read a lot about 04B13 is that not different than what I have? What is 04A71?

See my post above, 04b13 was the update for the 16's and 17's that originally had 04B10,04B11 and 04B12 calibrations. 2018 calibration is 04A71 that includes all the data calibration upgrades from 04B13

What @M1Awolf said. There is probably a lot of difference due to the TSS-P stuff. So that might be why there was a big ECU ID change.

In fact, there were two versions for '18s (04A70/04A71) and two for '19s (04B40 and 04B41).

Looking back, '16s changed from 04B10 to 04B11 at some point. Not sure if some '17s were also 04B11 (I'm thinking they were), but they did get 04B12 in the end.

Then came the mystical 04B13. I don't think any 3rd gen M/Ts came from the factory with this calibration, a reference to it just "appeared" in a TSB for slushbox trucks.

A very kind/wise TW member did a health check in TS and found an update was available one fine day, and the rest is history. That file has been whored out ever since lol.

I think all 2017s are 04B12. But yeah, it is ECU ID roulette.

@Ruggybuggy was the champ there. Bummer to see him go to the dark side. :D

So that's what ya'll were talking about with Rev-Hang :facepalm:I never really approached the rev-limiter before. Ran her up over 5K a few times today to see what you all were talking about and the Rev-Hang is obvious there. I don't really notice it so much at 4K. This truck does pull really nice at those higher rpms, but it's so loud and with the Rev-Hang I'm gonna keep her down around 4K - at least until OVT 2.0 drops ;) I got so used to my 2nd Gen sounding like it would explode at 3K RPMs, that I never thought about winding up the new truck that high.

Anything under 3500-4000 isn’t noticeable. Above that, it’s like an eternity for revs to fall.

get on it in 1st to redline and shift to second. It’s bad.

Agreed...Now if I can just figure out what you all are talking about with Tip-In o_O It's not the Ross Perot Giant Sucking Sound and throttle bog when you stab the loud petal quick is it? My 2nd Gen had that really bad, but I chalked it up to the bad aftermarket intake and crazy Airaid Throttle Body Spacer (remember, the whistle means its working) that the previous owner had installed (seems like I spent more time un-moding that truck than moding it). Then I found the same thing on my 3rd Gen when I bought it and it was completely stock.

Tip in is basically throttle sensitivity. There’s been some where you barely tap the gas and you get a whole lot of throttle, or others where you get nearly nothing. I think that’s been more of an issue with the AT aside from 1.03b for the MT

Ah... makes sense. The Tacomas have always seemed slow to react to pedal input, Thank God for Matt's work.

Anyone else running 1.05 91 FOB?

    My observations so far.

    Different exhaust note.
    more sensitive gas pedal
    poorer gas mileage
    More lower end power
    Overall faster feel.

Is this similar to your experience?

I just want to make sure this isn’t all in my head

does OVtune send a shipping update for the kit or is it just a "when it shows up, it shows up" kinda thing?

and speaking of tip in. my 2010 tundra had an insanely sensitive pedal. Little bumps in the road and you would be bucking around like crazy. I prefer that to the undersensitive pedal in the taco
