2016 OVTune Tacoma 3.5L Manual Transmission / Engine ECU Reflash

I just got my order delivered this week from OVTUNe and have the same as you-- 2016 MT. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before proceeding as I don't want to fuck anything up and moan about it on this thread. i..e hold off until further ovtune updates, anything the instructions/disclaimer doesn't tell you, etc....thx

 

you need to use pcmflash.exe to "identify" your ECU base code version to know more. that's your first step.

 

Honestly, there's not much you can do right now because Mat is in China with no way to send you the files. He'll be back soon, keep watching these threads.

In the mean time, you can familiarize yourself with the process by watching the vids on page 1 of this thread and looking over the write up on OVtune's website (it may still be down at this point).

Edit: When Mat is back and you go through the process of dongle registration/Identifying and reading ECU/sending the OEM calibration file to Mat, you will learn what version your ECU is. If it turns out to be 04B10, well there's something to be said for waiting until 1.03B is released. The tune file we have now (1.03 M/T test version), while much better than stock in some ways, is not complete. That will be your call.

 

I don't think he has the dongle registered with Mat yet...

ha ya...i was sweatin. It was killing me because it took over a week to get my pcmflash serial key. Time to drink a cold one.

 

Yeah man, and remember there are plenty of guys on here who can and will help you when it comes time to tune your rig. If you have questions or are unsure, seek one of us out and then you can start a private conversation if you like. That way the confusion of multiple replies is reduced.

Hey man !! Truck is still good on the test tune ,, the 4-5-6 gears at highway speeds are way more responsive !! That was a nice surprise ,, other than that just waiting for update and enjoying all the snow Down here in the valley pooch is def lovin it !! How’s things up there ?

I don’t recall the exact number and too lazy to search but IIRC Mat said he charges around $350 for the license itself so whoever buys your kit would have to pay that fee
