I've been trying to follow this thread since I ordered my 2020 Tacoma Sport. And since it's getting close to receiving it, my interest in this tune has been increasing by the day. But what I still can't figure out is what's the difference between all of these configurations. And also between you all with the dongle and no dongle versions. And lastly, besides the tune, what else would I need to have and/or purchase to make this work? I've never done a tune so I'm as big of a newbie as it comes. Thanks.

Blog post should be up this weekend with more details about the specifics of each tune

You just need to buy the kit and you’ll have everything you need.

You will only need to worry about dongless PF5 files. Dongle was the OG guys from a couple years back. There's only a few of those greybeards these days.

Dump Tubes are OVT's special headers, so you won't need to worry about those unless you buy some.

In the end, all you need to think about is the Base and SFOB tunes. Base rocks and SFOB turns up the torque and performance. Both should actually improve your MPGs.

FOB refers to the Full Otto Cycle and is considered the performance tune. 87/91 from what I understand is just the starting point and is essentially the same tune once octane learning takes over. The base tune is just all the goods of OVT without the performance tune. Dump tubes are pretty self explanatory, if you've got improved exhaust flow thats the one you want. Dongle/dongless you dont have to worry too much about. All new stuff is done via tactrix cable and considered dongleless. The dongles were USB plug-ins the first handful of people who got their registration in the early days of these tunes.

You will need a windows laptop post win xp. The only thing you need to purchase is the tune kit, all software/hardware is included, you download the software updates and tune files. The difference between dongle no dongle is the early tune customers received a USB memory stick "dongle" that was then coded with their tune license, later tune customers are dongleless and the licenses are tied to their tuning laptop via a registration code/file.

The difference in the 04b04,04b13 files ect.. is the variation of ECU's over the model years, there are multiple for each and for M/T and A/T. The other variations are octane and performance options of the tune.

ETA I think we covered his questions...abused.gif

I actually got kicked from that page. I think Jolly actually stepped down, can't remember. Anyway, one of the other admins banned me for stating that I wouldn't actively encourage people to stop shaming others for being dumb af lol that's how I ended up back in the TT3 page.

Will never go back to TTE though, that's as bad of a dumpster fire as AWD Army and the alpha thread lol

I have about 20 miles on sfob premium running 93. All I can say is first gear pulls really hard after about 1800 rpm. On dry pavement in a straight line my Trac light was blinking the entire way thru 1st gear. This has never happened before. The single torque map really makes a difference in 1st and a bit in second. Still settling in but so far a great improvement from any other tune.

broskis, 1st gear is insane. shift into 2nd, then that torque kicks in so hard that i had to shift into 3rd immediately. Is this tune even legal LOL. Im too scared to go past 5k rpms, thats how I feel right now:rofl:
