In other news, I think I'm gonna buy a new laptop today while I wait for the flash kits going on sale again. My current laptop could kick the bucket at any time nowdays.

Any recommendations on a basic laptop to flash with, browse internet, check email, upload go pro vids, etc?

Didn't think of that. Nice find. I prefer to buy new and hopefully last 10 years like my current one did. Albeit, after a mid life hard drive transplant by my friend...because I am slowly becoming that old guy who doesn't know jack about technology. Slowly but surely

Most stuff if you slap in an SSD and max out the memory, will be sufficient for a long time

batteries are usually the thing that craps out which may or may not be replaceable. Most newer laptops should be able to last all day.

I found a Dell Lattitude E5540 on E-bay for $150. It was reconditioned with a new battery & SSD. it's about 3 or 4 years old. Lots of offices retire laptops at that age, but it's got plenty of life in it - perfect for flashing.
