After the sports / activities wallet drain, I had (and apparently lost) buy-in that they were on their own for college. Now, I have a sinking feeling.

Although, we know folks that have adopted. Cheaper to make your own at home if you are able and willing. :boink:

Don't fall into that trick! Sports and after school activities are not required. Unless you want to raise more Millenials.

It's a trap! We fell into it with full send.

Around these nutty parts, you can't even play HS sports without a club sports resume. Well, unless you have LeBron's talent.

Yeah... I guess it's a good thing that my wife and I don't conform to the whole organized sports thing. I mean, it's fine to play sports, but seriously... watching someone else play a sport on TV? That's like the newish fad of people watching other people play video games. It just doesn't make any sense.

If my kids want to play a sport later on, that's fine. But I'm not forcing it on them. Let kids be kids. Go out and play. Ride bikes. Run around in the park. Etc.

Yep. Our oldest didn't make the volleyball cut. It was fun tossing the ball around at home, but she was indifferent about it not making the team.

In the end, ours are dancers. The last couple years have helped a lot. Character building, performance, public speaking, and they're in really good shape.

    Still . . .

That's the other thing! Sports are a GAME! IT SHOULD BE FREE!

Go to the park and play b-ball with your friends. Play stick ball in the field. Etc etc etc.

UGH... y'all got me started. LOL!

    Seriously good work!

Yeah. The e-sports thing is wacky, even more so the spectators.

Sorry. That is exactly how I feel and how I grew up.

This area is stellar for the stuff that we can do, but fucked for the peeps and society.

Dancing is the stuff, if your kids are good at it.

Seriously though... why force them into something that they may or may not be into because everyone else is doing it. It's one thing if they are really, really interested in it. We're not forcing our kids into careers, why force them into an organized sport that is going to take up all their time as kids.

I get the question all of the time...
Them: "What T-ball league are your kids in?"
    Me: "They're not."
Them: "Well, why not?" (You're a bad parent)
Me: "Because they're kids and I'm letting them be kids."
