So I see that Nitro gears has a 19% off sale right now....really contemplating gearing. Those of you with 4.88 and running this tune, would you say it’s worth the investment and that it makes a noticeable difference in helping the truck feel torqueier? My truck isn’t overly heavy but I do have full skids/sliders and slightly bigger tires then stock (31.6”).

Im not with my kit currently but, its a simple little setup...should be in a little zipper pouch and inside that should just be what looks like a printer cable and the meat of the whole thing is what goes on the obd2 port. Its a slightly clear ish connecter about four inchs long 3 inch wide with a port on the far side that the cable plugs into. edit. google tactrix openport 2.0 thats what they look like.

So basically just an obd 2 cable with a usb on the other end? And then you download the flash manager program and the tune file you want? And that's it? (Of course you need the registration key/license.)

It’s an ODB2 with usb plug on it.. then the USB cable. Everything else is software.

This is what the adapter thing looks like. Some of them are clear. Some are orange

More or less, the obd2 plug....separate cable that plugs into the back of that and on the other side is usb plug for the laptop. download all the stuff needed, snag the system id number from within flash manager once its all loaded on your pc, and respond back to your original ticket from zendesk (if you have one)... I sent my name, order number, system id/code , calibration file and part number.

Im saying to much and just being outright confusing lol. Search for one second hand and if you come across one just shoot Mat a zendesk support email and take her from there. But once you get one...download all the software first so you have a system id number to send him...otherwise he cant finish his end of things.

The only way to get this for a 3rd gen MT is on the used market correct?

So you can't just buy this cable? It has to be one originally sold by OVtune?

Also, looks like the price on the license went up to $375 per that quote from a comment as of yesterday.

And I had a guy message me with a dongle kit he wants to sell me for $330 shipped. Seems too high to me. I also have no idea what the dongle version means and seems people were having some challenges with those versions currently (I don't pretend to understand, but seems the ongoing support for it is limited?)

I’m curious also. Is there a dongle-less version now. How does this work?

In the past he has required it to be one that was purchased from him.

Personally, I’d hold off on buying anything until all the details around vf tune are announced.

the license is $325. Mat posted that again yesterday.

Just a note that back in the day, Flash Kits were $770 plus shipping. So, use that to base judgements on used kits with the license cost.

    Quoted for price comment.

Yeah the VF tune has me curious, just been waiting a while at this point and was ready to get it done. Then when it suddenly went on a fire sale, it sold out while I was trying to purchase. So now I'm looking at options. No one knows how long it will take before the vf tune version is on the market. And I'm assuming it will include 2.0

I believe you about the $325 license price, I just quoted the post where it was said a license is $375... so that's confusing.

Uggggh. Still salty that I missed the $499 sale by minutes.

I missed a sale by a week after I had asked if there were plans for a sale. We had a shittastic storm that delayed my kit of a week. My typical life.

The tune fixed an issue with my cruise control, so I chalked the extra cost up to that.

honestly, don’t believe anything unless it comes from mat

there’s some of us that are pretty in the loop and follow that can help as well. And there’s others that just spread bs and confusion.
