    The dongle kits were the original tune kits. They consisted of the cable,the OBDII adapter and a USB flash drive (the dongle) The dongle was used to register/license your kit,it could be used on any laptop with the downloaded OVTune software these used the PCM flash version of the tunes. The later kits did not have the dongle and required you to send in your laptops system ID for a registration key that tied your tune license to that laptop,these use the P5F version of the tunes. If you purchased a used dongle kit I assume Mat would have you send your laptops sytem ID in for a registration key. He has offered several times for the dongle guys to convert to the P5F but many resisted causing him extra work.

    Basically the Dongle is a "secret key" that Mat replaced with a "secret key" in your Windows Registry file so his stuff was not hardware bound.

    That was my mistake on the license cost, I was going from memory, which was flawed. Mat posted the correction almost immediately. There is no confusion.
