For those of us with the flash kit, does anyone know how long we have to buy the VF tuner at the reduced price before it goes up to regular price?

Bummer, so it looks like there's no way to get the 2.0 MT now if you haven't already purchased? Just sold some stuff and was getting ready to buy.

 

Hang tight. Once vf is released you can either buy that or find an owner and have them tune you.

 

I've read 100+ pages of these tunes threads among others. I've never tuned anything but am looking to as I hear a lot of good things about it. What exactly is needed to do this? Any and all help is appreciated. I just missed out on the twin turbo kits I am hoping to get in on the second batch whenever that comes along.

 

The ‘official’ way to do it now is to wait for VF Tune to come out and buy that. Then you can use the supplied example tunes and stick with them or further tweak & tune yourself. Additionally, you might be able to get a copy of 2.0 that someone is willing to share with you in VF Tune format. Only those with the full flash kit that also purchase VF Tune will get that.

Alternatively, you can keep an eye on the secondary market here and snag a flash kit when someone decides to sell theirs. Then, you can get 2.0 for the flash kit and/or get a VF Tune formatted 2.0 if you purchase VF Tune.

 

Thank you. Is this VF tune all that is needed or is a laptop needed to load onto? If so is it compatible with Apple? For the second part of having someone share 2.0 is there anyone in Worcester, MA area willing to help out?

 

It’s windows software. Needs a computer. I run bootcamp on my macbook.

I’m sure there’s prob someone that will help, especially since you are a mt. If you had an auto that might be a diff story lol

 

FWIW, many a TW user has been helped cross country. And tunes can be emailed if that’s what you’re asking. But if you’re asking if someone can tune your truck for you, yes it’s possible. With VF Tune, if they have the same ECU ID as you, they can use their tuner software to tune your truck. With the Flash kit, that’s a bit more involved. I personally wouldn’t do it unless I had access to that buddy regularly. The reason being, you have to buy a $300 license, but you’re stuck without access to the flash kit. At that point, I’d just spend the money on VF Tune.

Personally, I think that’s where it’s all headed. It will take a long time for everyone to buy VF and move to that platform, but it’ll happen for the most part.
