Yesterday, I pulled out making a hard left turn. The TRAC and engine regulation still let them howl more than I expected.

Does anyone know of a post that clearly defines the differences between 2.0's "Options" in the tune? I'd like to be educated on all of these

OL is octane learning. Base is basic. SFOB is Full Otto with the Atkinson nonsense nerfed. Dump refers to dump tubes.

Thanks @mZiggy - I'm hoping for a bit more detail as well though. I realize the answer may be out there, so if there's another post I should read, let me know. I'd rather not have to comb & search through 5,000 combined pages between all these threads, only to have to look at every post where someone referenced these things, rather than explain them

Can you or anyone else provide a more in-depth explanation on -

--What does octane learning do? Is it actually effective? Any risk in using this?
--What is Full Otto with the Atkinson nonsense nerfed in lamens terms? Whats the use for this? What scenarios make this advantageous, and which don't? Any downside here?
--If I don't know what dump tubes are, then there's no need bothering to understand this one in more detail, right?

Thanks again for the info y'all - I know I can always count on the TW homies

--What does octane learning do? Is it actually effective? Any risk in using this?
    - not particularly much risk. It'll recognize higher or lower octane and adjust accordingly. For example, I run SFOB Reg with 91 octane. It "learned" the higher octane available and accounted for it. Feels perfect. I could put 87 in and it would adjust accordingly so as not to ruin itself
--What is Full Otto with the Atkinson nonsense nerfed in lamens terms? Whats the use for this? What scenarios make this advantageous, and which don't? Any downside here?
    - without going into too much detail because I am also not an expert, I'll cover the basics based on experience with the FO maps. There's no "simulated Atkinson mode" being messed with, except in very limited circumstances that Mat left in place I believe. FO translates to a stronger and more powerful tune/experience. Especially down low. Mat had initially warned those of us asking about a FO map way back in the 1.03 days that we'd almost certainly see a decrease in fuel economy but the opposite actually ended up happening lol the truck doesn't have to work as hard and in my opinion, seems to run healthier too. Advantages can be seen from daily driving to towing as a result. Personally, I highly recommend trying out SFOB Reg w/ 91 octane. Feels incredible
--If I don't know what dump tubes are, then there's no need bothering to understand this one in more detail, right?
    - I suppose not. They're aftermarket "headers" that Mat provided from awhile. I say headers in quotation marks since we don't have true headers. They're being made available in the twin turbo kits as well

Incredible thanks a ton. This was super helpful. Sounds like sfob is going to be my go to. Have you noticed any difference between 91 & 87?

I haven't run 87 octane since 2017 lol but I did notice a bit of a difference while the tune "learned" that I had 91 in the tank

I think I might come back, but not with a 3rd gen. What do you hungry, power bottoms think about riding me into oblivion?

    1. It's auto
    2. That's crackhead prices.... 5 year old truck with 38k, I mean yeah it is Toyota CPO, but still. Is it a PRO or something? My '17 sport wasn't much more than that *brand new*.

I mean, if you're dead set on a 2nd gen, your're going to pay out the nose for a nice one I guess.

yeah. thats why I bought my 16 & 17. it wasn't that much more than a used 2nd gen and I knew the history of the truck instead of getting someone elses mod disaster or maintenance neglect
