With the positioning the front chin on the 3rd gen, there's really no way but to cut that section out. The only way to mount a winch in that area without removing it would be to go outward or downward; neither of which would add any benefit, only negate it. I'm not trying to be a downer, I just know what their 4Runner bumper installation was because I did it myself.

Misunderstanding... When I say cut out I mean remove like the mounting of the 4 runner. He's looking at all options.

No worries! The one thing I was really surprised about the mounting on the T4R was the removal of the bumper support (aluminum core), so I'm assuming that's what you mean?

Haha yeah on the T4R there is an aluminum core, extensions that bolt it to the frame and a foam support in front of that. All four items were removed and the center section of the bumper cover cut out. I'm imagining it'll be close to the same but that'd be great if he can work around it

Cannot wait to see how this turns out. I love the look of the slimline 4Runner bumper.

This is definitely the style of bumper I'm going to to go with, waiting to see what US Offroad comes up with as well.

C4 Fab just released their's, shows the potential, but just not quite what I'm looking for.

Cool post, and a decent looking bumper in my opinion... would rather not have it this wide, personally.

I'm guessing any of the hybrid bumpers are going to be this wide, you need to cut out the lower part of the bumper (fat lip).

Similar to DTFs bumper except tube style which I prefer. I wish they would make one for the 3rd gen if they haven't already.

Yes the purpose of the width is the remove the entire fat lip center section. There are natural lines in the shape of the bumper that make it easy to follow when cutting out the center section. We tried making a more narrow version first, but ultimately decided it looked better to replace the entire fat lip area.

Just spoke with them yesterday... Prototype is almost complete and he will be putting the production version on my truck next week. Waiting to see pics myself. I'll post as soon as they send me something. They're 2 hours away.
