I really like this bumper and winch combo. I use my truck for work every day I am wondering what kind of Impact on Gas Mileage this will have?? Im also thinking about just having a receiver hitch added to the bumper so that I can save weight and keep the winch locked up in the cab.

well i called SSO and they said no aluminum option is coming so i’ve decided to with the bumper with no winch. How much of a drop in lift have others seen with only the bumper?

It will be minimal. I think with bumper and winch it dropped .5”

TRD Exhaust, Mobtown bolt on sliders and aluminum tailgate reinforcement, Reverse lights changed to yellow turn signals, LED pods added for reverse, ADD W1 oil catch can, Total Chaos bed reinforcement, rear diff breather to taillight mod, 12" combo led bars behind lower grill wired to high beams, Toyota led bed light kit, 400 watt anytime mod, SSO slimeline front bumper.
Intrested on this also. Was really hoping to get an aluminum version with no light bar opening or bar. Want to keep weight down to a minimum for handling. Also like aluminum to not worry about rust.

I hit/was hit frontal by two deer last year during rut season in my '03 Tundra; I would consider an aluminum light weight minimal copy to protect my Tacoma as I am not an off roader. Two deer, 275# total venison, $2200 total in repairs and not one steak/back strap to show for it. All in the city limits and law enforcement supports city code...hit it and leave it. We have more deer in the city limits per mile than any national forest! City traps hundreds each year but not a dent. Installed deer whistles seem numb. Rutting bucks are blind! Of course, deer were here a million years before us Tacoma drivers!!!!

Hello All, I just bought a new a SSO slimline bumper on TW from a fellow member.
I'm winch shopping now, I've got an older Warn XD9000i I took off my 90 Tacoma, but I don't think it's going to fit inside the grill. I'm looking at the warn M8000s and the zeon 8000s for this project.
Have any of you used the M8000s with the SSO bumper? I leaning to the M8000s it's 20 lbs lighter has a solid track record and is $250 cheaper. The zeon looks prettier but I never going to see it.
Thanks for your input and knowledge
    Tom

I run that exact winch with my SSO, you just have to remove a goofy bracket

I looked back thru this thread
    JoeCOVA you're running the XD9000i winch ?
What bracket did you have remove ? The stamped steel bracket that everyone's removing for the zeon install?

I've got the same SSO bumper setup as you. No access holes and no cut out for light bar. Are you planning any light bar on the front of your truck ? If so want make, size and location?

Nah, I don't think I need a light bar. Not sure why it seems everyone here wants one... my truck came standard with headlights. ;)

I am and the bracket might be the same. @Kennedyusmc has an install thread if you search for SSOand by him. There are some other threads around where I posted a pic of the bracket. It’s pretty easy to remove.

Has anyone managed to relocate an X20 solenoid to fit the caliraised lower bumper light? Caliraised assured me that it will fit but the photos here made me doubt that. Pretty sure they meant their other brackets behind the actual grill.

I have this bumper on my wish list, but in the meantime I am going to install a 30" led bar behind the lower grill using caliraised brackets. My thought was when I get this bumper, I'd move the light bar down into a cutout on the bumper, but now I'm wondering... will this bumper work with the caliraised brackets? My intuition is no, that parts have to be removed that the LED bar brackets attach to, but was wondering if anyone knows for sure.

I asked SSO and they said no to a two row bar as seen in the Cali raised lower bumper brackets listing. I have that installed now and the bumper is coming soon. I’m going to figure out a way to get both bars in there even if it requires making brackets to move the Cali bar flush to the opening and remote mounting the winch solenoid. If you don’t get an answer before the bumper arrives, I’ll PM you with how it went.

I just installed the SSO bumper last week, I have the same cali raised light bar in the lower bumper position, There is no problem with mounting the new SSO and the light bar, I do want to add a winch at some point but can't get a good answer as to what winch is best and if the winch will fit with the lower mounted cali raised bar.

I did the unspeakable and went to a Jeep Wrangler forum. The Smittybilt XO2 and Warn Xeon can be remotely mounted. The warn is easier than the xo2. If the body of the winch can fit then we are golden.
