Thanks for all the help. One last thing if I install the hitch receiver first will I have any problem installing the harness later? Meeting will I have to take the hitch off to put the harness on

I have a connection to get a whole rear bumper for 150. Don't know if I want to do that or buy a hitch receiver

Do you have color matched caps or are your's black? Or is the bumper your getting a different color? Cause those pop right off with a couple screws and are easily replaceable.

I think you made my decision a whole lot easier. Just going to go under truck and check it out first. A little scared on cutting the new harness and puting it in the factory look alike plug though. Might have someone else install those.

Not hard to cut the 4 pin off and just match up the color of wires to each other that's all. Not hard!

So basically just using a wire connector for each one and clamping them down and maybe some electrical tape or use that heat method i saw them do on the etrailer video.

Also with this method i will be able to use either plug? 7 or 4? When hauling.

Yep, the only wires you won't need out of the 7 are the brake controller and reverse lights I believe.

You can use the same torque spec as the 2nd gen, 67 ft./lbs.

There is a whole spec sheet here:
