I just purchased my first Tacoma and have 4193 miles on it. I have had the frequent transmission shifting issues, which the dealer says are normal until the transmission gets use to your driving, even though the factory shipped the truck a quart low of transmission fluid. When I start the truck up in the morning, I will wait a few minutes before leaving the drive way. When I put on the gas merging into traffic, I can feel the truck actual cut out a few times, like its sputtering, and its not cold weather her in CA. Of course the dealer can't replicate the issue and there are no codes coming up. I also have a rattle in the headliner on the driver side, Taking the truck back to the dealer to get that taken care of. I sis have a rattle in the DS door panel right by the seat belt...Anyone else with any of these problems? 2016 SR5 4Cyl Automatic 4X4.

Yes, I have a similar experience. Post 992 in 3rd Gen Transmission Fluid level check. Mine is a 6 cyl though and I assume that the problem is engine related. Let me know what your dealer says.

Yes... happened to me today only cold starting out first few times on the gas then it goes away... sorta annoying. Today it kinda startled me... hit the gas to get going and the engine lost all power for like a second or 2 then surged back to normal! Next stop sign a block away and same thing, next stop sign 4 blocks away... back to normal.

I have a manual tranny and I can't really rev the engine at a stop sign either - if I tap the gas to rev the engine a little ... nada... Drive by wire I'm sure but it should be more sensitive. I'm coming from a long line of manual tranny cars/trucks withOUT drive by wire and I could always rev the engine a little to get going from stop.

Yea and there's an annoying rattle very slight, sounds like a light tin rattle in the headliner which comes and goes. Not enough to irritate but it's there from time to time.

I have the manual too. Same thing for me, but it only does it when the A/C is on.

Mine does that too. I notice it mostly when I punch the gas to move into the fast lane it cuts out for a second, then catches up. I am going to ask them to check the trans fluid level when I get an oil change next time ('13 automatic 6cyl 70000ish mi) Every once in a while there is a small surge at a stop also. It freaks me out.

I can't say I've had this issue. You guys can't rev the engine a little to help get into 1st gear? I think I'm understanding that wrong because that wouldn't be normal at all!

Anyway to use a go pro and record it, to show dealer ?

Since they will give the standard "cannot replicate," when you take it in

On my truck, which is a V6 manual, there is a noticeable lull in power between 1700 and 2000 rpm while the A/C is on. It's most noticeable in second gear. If I'm driving like a granny and end up at around 1500 rpm when I shift out of 1st, it pulls like normal from 1500 to 1700 rpm, gets weak from 1700 to 1900 or so, then regains power at 1900 or 2000 rpm. It's repeatable and doesn't happen with the A/C off. It doesn't feel like the engine is missing or anything. It just feels like a low spot in the power band.

If I drive more aggressively and let the engine rev a little higher while accelerating with the A/C on vs when it's not, it pulls normally.

I haven't noticed what the OP is saying about the engine not revving when the clutch is depressed but I haven't tested it.

I only have 200 miles on the truck so I don't know if it's normal for this engine or not.

Yeah, the lags are something I have experienced as well. Not sure it is the ac or what but the ac seems to suck all power from the engine and causes some pretty severe vibrations when kicking off and on when idling.

AC sucking power is a very Japanese car phenomenon I notice

Only time it hasn't done that is in my V8 LX and V8 LS

There is sucking power and then there is this. It seems to have a greater impact on the Tacoma when compared to my other Japanese cars I have owned. Miata, s2000.
