Oh yeah... I'm going to introduce myself to Toyota and the Taco forum with our new 2016 Takoma TRD Sport with M/T in metallic grey. We spent all morning and I mean all morning at the dealership and I paid with my own financing. Note to self - next time take the 1.9% financing.
Walk out the door price was $35,500 taxes tags dinner for the sales team the whole shebang.

Dealer only had 2 new Tacomas. One was a blue 4 cyl basic model the other was this one.

I never bought a Toyota before but my sister swears by them and has been driving one since like 1972.. I never really even drove a Toyota before Saturday much less a Tacoma TRD. I was test driving large SUVs like a Xterra 2015 leftover was more $$ - drove it ... YUK and the price was crazy. I went back to square one. Was looking at the Tacoma 3 weeks ago and they only had 2015 leftovers and no manual trannys, which is the only tranny I will drive. I've never driven a automatic for anything other than a rental car and I HATE that shit. Been driving manual trannys for 40 years and LOVE them. So time to buy a new truck... whats my options? Went down the list in alpha order and got to the "T"s - boom = love at first sight. I drove MAYBE 2 blocks got into 3rd gear and I told the sales guy it a done deal.

This truck is FANTASTIC.. the ride the power shifting AND getting 2nd looks from the .... LADIES!! Been a while for that to happen.

Nice little growl from the exhaust and decent amount of grunt, I'm one happy feller.

This is a guy that shared a Honda CRV (manual) with my wife (life in the city) for the last 10 years. My wife bless her beautiful soul talked me into this truck (wasn't hard already had my mind made up).

We do a fair amount of camping, have a wilderness cabin in cottage country in Canada and mtn biking. Whats not to love about this truck. I'm surprised I haven't bought one before today TBH. I always was admiring a local mtn biker whom has had one of these for several years and see him at the park often and always liked his truck.... now I know why.

Yeah buddy completely backed into this, was at work on Saturday and just googled the local Toyota dealer which just happens to be like 1.5 miles from our home and they had the M/T AND in grey which gets me the bed cover and tow package. The TRD sport metallic grey only comes the way you see it here. Which happens to be just the way I wanted it. I'd have taken the TRD OD but they only had 2 trucks, the other was a 4 cyl.

Gas mileage is going to have to wait until I get "used" to driving less aggressive!! The engine has a fair amount of power and is fun to drive!

I just drove it on the highway yesterday and it feels solidly grounded going 85 down the highway and around highway curves too.

Time to go on a few gravel roads today after work!

Congrats from a fellow mountain biker. Your a little older than I am if you have been driving a manual for the last 40 years but it's great to hear your are still riding. I would like to still be riding into my fifties and sixties.

It always takes 4wd a while longer to break in and give better gas mileage. Not sure if yours is 4wd or not. At any rate, it's a cool looking pickup. Congrats!

Clutch is VERY nice - shifting is very smooth as well. Cool little thing the truck actually holds the brake for like 3-4 secs IF the truck is on a hill so it's damn near impossible to roll back. I have to release the brake and NOT hit the gas, the truck will sit there without rolling back, my wife is going to love that feature.

Even with traction control I managed to chip the tires leaving the showroom.

All wheel drive for sure here. I haven't bought a 2 wheel drive car since the early 90s and that was my aberration into sports/race cars (heavily modded VW).

The only small and that's a very small complaint is the stereo is not as loud/vibrant sounding as many other 2016 trucks I took for a test drive but the fun of actually driving makes up for it. I drove the truck a good hour yesterday and forgot to turn the music on... wish it had a 6 disc changer but I'm old school. That's the only down side that I've noticed but again still improvement over what I'm listening to now in our Honda CRV.

Ah ha! So it has the hill hold thing, interesting. My '13 Subie had that, helpful here and there. My '14 Taco doesn't. One more nugget of info I've never read elsewhere. Thanks!

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to Tacomaworld. That's a beautiful color. I 100% agree with you regarding the MT, I have a lot of respect for Toyota for still offering one on the Gen 3 in something other than their bottom level trim.
