Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem. I was stoked to finally drive the 2016 TRD sport/ or off road with the upgrade package. AT the time I was ok with the moon roof. Didn't love it or hate it but I wanted the other features that this option package had.

The moon roof drops the ceiling height by around 2 inches... especially in the corners. I am only 5'11" and I have never had anything but a toyota pick up. I have never had this problem. The seat will not lower and only by going custom leather seats can they even lower it by 1/2 inch max. So i have to downgrade my vehicle to the SR5 without the moonroof. Turns out I really only give up a few things that were nice but not anythingI could not live without. And I save $5K.

I dont see how anyone over 6 feet can possibly fit in this truck unless they like to drive with the seat leaned way back. Also turns out lots of reviews talk about the cramped cab of the new 2016s.

I'm 6' and have no issues with my moonroof. My height is in my legs, though, so that might have something to do with it. I also don't have any issues with interior space. The back seat is virtually the same size as the 2015, if not about a half inch bigger.

Trust me - you'll like the tech package that comes with the moonroof.

So really what you want Toyota to do is separate the tech pkg from the moonroof?

These threads had me almost opt out of the tech package, took delivery and it was not bad at all. 6'3 but I guess I sit further back, have an easy 3-5 inches

Indeed I would love the tech package... I have no doubt about that, but I cant deal with my head hitting the ceiling... especially when I look over my shoulder to change lanes. believe me, I looked at trying to crush down the moon roof bezzel, lower the seat, try to deal with it, etc. We even talked to the custom interior mod guy. In the end, I think I will add the AC outlet in the back myself and go for the SR5, and just miss out on the other things. The SR5 also does not have the silly hood scoop that makes the window viewing area seem compressed.

indeed, having a moon roof as part of a technology package seems wrong. Historically the moon roof has been a stand alone add on. Having a moon roof on a truck seems contrary as well. Loading lumber, bikes, canoes, etc... plus having the bird crap (i live close to the coast) on there and having another window to clean.

Is it possible to order the TRD's with the tech package and have them leave the moon roof out? I know it would be a custom and a wait but I am not even sure if they can make this mod. does anyone know?

No, Toyota doesn't modify its assembly line that way. If tech package only comes with moon roof, you don't get one without the other. Which is too bad, because I love the combo bed/brake light, heated seats, heated mirrors, blind-spot monitoring and backup radar, dual-zone climate control, auto lights, etc.

My dog likes it when the moonroof is open, too. Lots of sniffs.

yes, I am bummed I will not be getting those features... in reality, I dont need the heated seats too often in CA. The blind spot monitoring would instill a bad habit in em, I am trained to look over my shoulder and want to teach my kids the same. Will have to deal with not having dual climate control as the wife is always hotter or colder than me. The wireless charging I can solve with an aftermarket product and the AC outlet I can solve with an aftermarket product or just purchase the Toyota gear and install it myself.

CAn I ask how tall you are? I am indeed bummed I cant fit in the moonroof version : (

6' - 32" inseam. I don't have the seat reclined back very far, although I am considering the ceiling my "haircut needed early warning system." My hair gets tall when it's longer, so when I hit the ceiling I get it cut. Meh. By far I'd rather that be my worst problem when I've got all the whistles and bells on the truck.

I cant stand the damn moonroof in mine. Im 5'11 and my head constantly brushes up against it. Even worse when I wear a ballcap.

I was only driving for a few weeks before really noticing it and getting comfort with the ergos. Here's the thread I did right up on how I resolved. Was pretty simple to gain 1/2" to 1" in head room.

Hahaha, yep, the first thing I thought was .... no more ball caps or glasses on the head... if it was just my hair brushing against it, Id be ok with that. But my entire head hits it... and it was just unacceptable... it would annoy the @#$@# out of me. I tried it, we drove it for 20 minutes and it was not acceptable.

Motogeek, wow, thanks for pointing out your post to modify the moon roof. I searched for that but I didnt find anything so I posted the question myself. I was talking about doing the same exact thing (or something very similar) to the dealer sales guy yesterday and he kinda talked me out of it. Now I am not so sure what to do. I had essentially talked myself into liking the SR5 with the upgrade package better than the TRD sport. For the most part I could do without all the Sport bells and whistles... although they would be very nice. But I really dont like the hood scoop and I really dont think a moon roof is a great way to go for a truck I plan to own for 15 years. Ive got lumber, bikes, canoes, surf boards, snowboards all likely going on the roof... also bird crap cause I work near the water. Yes, in an ideal world I would have the nice tech extras and no moon roof... but am i really willing to pay about $4500 for some fancy features that I could live without? I suppose that is the question I need to answer. the wireless charging can be accomplished after market... as well as the AC outlet in the back... and since I plan to add usb to the back and 12 volts I will be customizing all that anyway. Dual climate and seat heating is nice... but so rarely used here except a month a year and when we go boarding and climbing. I'm usually too hot anyway.

I dont know... I think I may keep the $4500 to buy my truck bed topper and my taxes... but I may change my mind. I realize the TRD sport has some sweet extras>\
    what to Do??

Hey, I was wondering if you were able to put on a seat cover. I have the exact same issue as you and I made the mistake of trying the Clazzio seat covers that raise you an additional 0.5 inches or so forward and up. I am going to have to return them or modify the sunroof bezzel like the guy on here did. wondering if you found a decent quality seat cover that fits and does not raise up the seat.

you are right, I love the tech package options. I am same height of you but have much longer torso and now I am trying to find thin seat covers or keep the Clazzios and modify the sunroof bezzel like a previous poster. advice? I have tried to sit back and more relaxed but I dont like it at all.
